Today we’d like to introduce you to Jodi Tallman.
Jodi, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was working for a company in Senoia Ga and they suddenly closed leaving the patients I was caring for without notice. I initially started a televisit platform specifically so that they could at least get their refills and so that I could let them know what had happened with the office. After about 3 months most of them said they wanted to continue with me so I thought I would use the telehealth platform just for the patients I already knew and had seen before. At this time I had found another office to work in as well. As the months went on, more and more patients were finding me and I began to get busy enough that working both places was too much and I needed to make a choice. I prayed and felt God telling me that it was time to be on my own. I began looking for a place where I could see patients in person and God began opening doors and provided the way.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Nothing worth having is easy. I knew nothing about running a business and still don’t know much. There is a lot of administrative work, insurance, rent, expenses, that have to be managed. The insurance companies and getting credentialed took some time and resubmissions. I also did not have money to pay anyone to help so I was doing it by myself in the beginning. I tried to obtain SBA loans but could never get approved so I was literally week to week, money in and money out with no cash flow. Very stressful while still taking care of patients.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love taking care of patients and truly believe that it is my calling in life. I am a good listener and allow patients to make informed decisions even if I disagree with the choice they make. I do primary care and chronic care management but I am also trained in bio-identical hormone replacement as well.
