Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Sharon Mason-Love of A-COUNTABILITY PLUS TAX SERVICE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Sharon Mason-Love.

Hi Dr. Sharon, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story really starts with survival and love. I became a tax professional over 20 years ago during a season where I was trying to figure life out—not just for myself, but for my children. I needed stability, and I needed answers. What I didn’t realize at the time was that learning taxes would eventually give me both. I started helping people around me because so many were confused, taken advantage of, or simply didn’t have anyone explaining things to them in a way they could understand. That’s when I knew this was bigger than a job.

As the years went on, I built A-Countability Plus Tax Service brick by brick. There were long nights, hard lessons, and moments where quitting would have been easier—but my family and my faith kept me grounded. I learned that integrity matters, that education is power, and that doing things the right way builds trust that lasts. Eventually, people didn’t just come to me for tax prep—they came for guidance. That led me into mentoring and coaching other tax professionals, helping them build businesses they could be proud of, not just profitable ones.

At the same time, dance has always been my outlet. When life felt heavy, dance kept me moving. What started as personal therapy turned into City Streets Dance Studio, a space created out of love for community, discipline, and sisterhood. Watching young girls and women grow in confidence, find their voice, and feel seen has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.

Today, I stand as a mother of five, a grandmother, a business owner, and a mentor who understands what it means to start with very little and still build something meaningful. Everything I do is rooted in legacy. I want my children, my clients, and my community to see that it’s possible to rise, to pivot, and to create a life that reflects both purpose and passion.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. There were seasons where everything felt uncertain—financially, emotionally, and mentally. Building businesses while raising children meant constantly choosing between what was urgent and what was necessary. There were times I poured into everyone else while quietly carrying the weight myself. Entrepreneurship can be lonely, especially when you’re the one everyone depends on.

I faced setbacks that forced me to rebuild—learning hard lessons about trust, boundaries, and self-worth. I had to navigate burnout, self-doubt, and moments where I questioned whether I was doing enough or being enough. In business, I learned the hard way that integrity can cost you in the short term, but it protects you in the long run. In life, I learned that strength doesn’t always look loud—sometimes it looks like showing up again after a hard day and choosing not to quit.

There were also struggles balancing my professional life with being present for my children. I wanted them to feel supported, even when I was building something from the ground up. That balancing act stretched me, but it also shaped me. Every obstacle refined my purpose and deepened my compassion for the people I now serve.

Looking back, those struggles weren’t roadblocks—they were the training ground. They taught me resilience, humility, and the importance of staying rooted in faith. I wouldn’t erase the hard parts, because they’re the reason I lead with empathy, operate with accountability, and build with intention today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about A-COUNTABILITY PLUS TAX SERVICE?
At the heart of everything I do is education, integrity, and community. I’m the owner of A-Countability Plus Tax Service, a brick-and-mortar tax firm built on doing things the right way, not the fast way. We specialize in individual and small-business tax preparation, self-employed returns, compliance, and problem-solving for clients who feel overwhelmed or misunderstood by the tax system. I’m especially known for breaking complex tax rules down in plain language so clients actually understand what’s being filed on their behalf.

Beyond tax preparation, I also mentor and coach other tax professionals. I help them build ethical, sustainable tax businesses through training, service-bureau support, and real-world guidance. I don’t just teach people how to file returns—I teach them how to protect themselves, their clients, and their reputations. That focus on accountability and education is what truly sets my brand apart.

I’m also the owner of City Streets Dance Studio, which may seem unrelated, but it reflects the same values. The studio is a safe, empowering space for young girls and women to build confidence, discipline, and sisterhood through dance. Whether it’s taxes or dance, I’m in the business of helping people stand strong and believe in themselves.

What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is trust. Many of my clients and team members have been with me for years—some for decades. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because I’m consistent, transparent, and deeply invested in the people I serve. My brand is known for doing the work with integrity, showing up for the community, and building legacy, not just income.

I want readers to know that when they work with me—whether as a client, a student, or a parent bringing their child to my studio—they’re stepping into an environment where they are respected, educated, and supported. My brand isn’t about perfection; it’s about purpose, accountability, and impact. That’s what I stand on, and that’s what I continue to build.

What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are centered on growth with purpose and balance. I’ve spent years building, grinding, and pouring into others, and now I’m focused on expanding what I’ve built in a way that’s sustainable and aligned with my values.

Professionally, I plan to continue growing A-Countability Plus Tax Service as an education- and compliance-focused brand—not just a tax office. I’m excited about expanding my mentorship and training for tax professionals, helping more people build ethical, confident businesses while protecting their clients and their licenses. I also look forward to creating more resources for self-employed individuals and small business owners who need real guidance and long-term support.

With City Streets Dance Studio, the future is about deeper impact. I want to continue expanding opportunities for our dancers while preserving the culture of discipline, confidence, and sisterhood that makes the studio feel like home. I also want to continue line dancing—not just for fun, but as a form of wellness, joy, and community connection. Dance has always been therapy for me, and I plan to keep moving, teaching, and creating spaces where people can release, heal, and feel free.

On a personal level, I’m entering a season of legacy and alignment. I’m focused on being present—as a mother, a grandmother, and a leader—while modeling what it looks like to build success without losing yourself in the process.

What excites me most is knowing that the next chapter isn’t about starting over—it’s about elevating what already works, staying joyful, and watching the people I’ve poured into step fully into their own purpose.
