Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason Hawker.
Hi Jason, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My father started in carpet installation back in the early 80’s. He noticed that carpet repair was a specialty that he excelled at. From there, he grew his business into carpet cleaning. Back in those days, because of the kind of equipment they used, companies started getting into the water damage industry. As we know, anytime you introduce water – within 24 hours mold can pop its head out. So my father ended up getting into the full restoration industry before it was popular. He was a public adjuster, a very rare one with a lot of rank within the insurance industry.
As a child, I grew up in this industry and it grew into mold and fire restoration as well. I got to learn the ins and outs of every job starting at a very young age. As a young teenager, as soon I showed I was not only capable of running a job but having excellent customer relations, I was subbed jobs. I learned the ropes of the restoration business over many years. I was privileged to work under industrial hygienists and IEP Specialists throughout these years, which provided me a deeper understanding of the restoration process. As of now, I have 25+ years in the industry. I am certified through two different institutions for water, mold, and fire. I only handle water and mold damage jobs currently. I have worked several trades throughout life while at the same time handling restoration jobs. The first recession in my life I learned that putting all my eggs in one basket never works so I wanted to expand on my trade experiences because different trades were doing better than others: Electrical, sign manufacturing and install, flooring, roof repair, critter removal/prevention, window/door installation, log cabin restoration, etc. Building science in this industry is a must. From the restoration business, all categories fall within this field. I worked for Bear Creek Log Home Restoration and currently still do when I am available and they handle all aspects from the roof to the foundation, so I have been blessed to do some other trades that others may not have the chance to learn or do.
I started my business with one dehumidifier, one air scrubber, and two small fans. I am very thankful that I have grown slowly. It has worked out in my favor. Through the past 4 years, I have grown and now my business is capable of handling any size home’s restoration needs. This is a very expensive industry to get started in. At the same time, this industry is actual very simple as long as you have the proper training and education to know how to complete a job.
I am very passionate about my customers health. I take every extra step I know to take to make sure that their homes are put back into safe order. Too many do not remove mold the proper way, setting it up under negative air pressure. In life, with anything, the more precautions you take and the more knowledge you have, the safer the outcomes. We do continuing education and as we do grow, my plan is to be an ESOP (employee owned) so as we grow all employees are able to benefit and profit from the company. With most restoration companies, they have a salesman come out – they only care about the price of the job/their commission. They don’t see the job through in most cases. The proper certified technician is not on the job. They may have some water damage techs, but they aren’t certified in mold. It is my belief that a certified specialist in whatever category they are working on in the home or business should be on the job at all times to ensure that everything is being done correctly. With my business, I am on the job through the whole process and handle everything from A to Z so the buck stops with me. I offer an 18 month warranty unless otherwise written in the contract, no deposits are required, and I offer discounts to senior citizens, the military, and the disabled/handicapped communities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a smaller business, not having the money to market has caused slow growth. Thankfully, I have invested heavily back into the business to be where I am today. The bigger companies have a larger marketing advantage. I rely a lot on word of mouth and personal recommendations.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pro Home Solutions, LLC?

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I used to travel around and do motivational speaking engagements to help families who were dealing with drug and alcohol issues. My wife and I really enjoy traveling to local flea markets, festivals, fairs, and other small business to help support the local communities. We enjoy hiking and searching out waterfalls to visit with our two dogs, Sampson and Delilah. I love small nostalgic collectibles from favorite movies.
