Meet Kierra Merriman of ScrubMAX Cleaning Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kierra Merriman.

Hi Kierra, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My path to founding ScrubMAX Cleaning Services was not exactly linear, but looking back, every step made sense. In 2019, I jumped into a coding bootcamp because I loved building things and understanding how systems work. That led me into consulting and eventually technical recruiting, where I spent several years working closely with people across many different roles and industries. I enjoyed connecting businesses with the right people and solving real problems. Still, even while helping others grow their careers, I felt a strong pull to build something of my own.

I did not have a blueprint or a mentor who had started a business before, so for a while the whole process felt unclear and uncertain. By 2025, that inner push to create something meaningful became too strong to ignore. I decided to take the leap, leave recruiting, and start ScrubMAX Cleaning Services. At the core of that decision was something simple. I genuinely find fulfillment in helping people and making their lives a little easier.

Based out of Newnan, we now serve a wide footprint including Peachtree City, Senoia, Fayetteville, Midtown, and Decatur. I have always enjoyed the act of cleaning, but what really motivates me is creating reliable systems that people can depend on. I saw that many cleaning services felt outdated or disorganized from the customer side, so I built ScrubMAX to feel modern, clear, and easy to work with. I built the website, the automations, and the backend systems myself so clients know exactly what to expect.

When someone books with us, they are not just getting a clean home. They are getting a dependable experience built with care and intention. This business is about more than clean spaces. It is about serving our Georgia communities well and building a company that gives back and treats every home with respect.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road, and I think anyone who has started a business from scratch would say the same. Coming from a technical and recruiting background, my biggest hurdle was stepping into areas I had no prior experience in. I understood systems and people, but figuring out how to consistently get ScrubMAX Cleaning Services in front of the right audience took real trial and error. There is a lot of noise online, and learning how to stand out and be found was a challenge early on.

The part that felt more natural was the human side of the journey. Attending networking events and meeting other local business owners has been incredibly valuable. Hearing their stories, lessons, and mistakes helped me shape how I approached my own company. I also made it a priority to be in the field myself. I am not just the owner. I have been inside the homes doing the work. That firsthand experience and direct client feedback shaped our standards and processes.

The most rewarding moments have been hearing clients say we made their lives easier or removed stress from an already busy season. Even when parts of the business were difficult to figure out, those real connections with customers and other business owners made the challenges worth pushing through.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At ScrubMAX Cleaning Services, we provide residential and commercial cleaning with a strong focus on consistency and attention to detail. We handle everything from routine recurring cleanings to heavy deep cleans, but we are especially known for our move in and move out services. Moving is already stressful, so we built our process to take that cleaning burden fully off our clients, whether they are renters, homeowners, business owners, or real estate agents preparing a property for turnover.

One thing that sets us apart is how simple we have made the experience for our clients. Because of my technical background, I put real thought into the systems behind the business. Booking, scheduling, and communication are designed to be clear and easy, without the usual back and forth or uncertainty around arrival times. This structure works well for recurring clients and commercial partners who need dependable, repeatable service. Clients can book and communicate with us easily from their phone, which keeps the process convenient and straightforward. We also offer linen care services with pickup, washing, and delivery for busy clients who want to hand that task off as well.

I am especially proud of our reputation for reliability. In this industry, trust matters. Families and businesses across Coweta County, Fayette County, and the Atlanta area trust us with their spaces, and we take that responsibility seriously. We are building a local company that shows up, does the job right, and stays connected to the community. Every property we enter is treated with the same care and respect we would give our own.

How do you think about luck?
I’ve always been a risk taker, and leaving a stable career to start ScrubMAX Cleaning Services was a big leap. I was willing to take that chance because I wanted a more fulfilling life and the pride of building something from the ground up.

When it comes to luck, I see it as being in the right place at the right time and being willing to step forward when the opportunity appears. I was fortunate to meet local business owners who openly shared their highs and lows with me. Those conversations helped me realize the challenges I was facing were normal and gave me perspective during the early stages.

There is also the other side of luck, the unexpected setbacks and difficult days that come with running a business. You cannot avoid them, you can only work through them. One real advantage for me was my professional background. I never planned to use those skills in the cleaning industry, but they turned out to be exactly what I needed to build the company the right way.

I am most grateful for the chance to work directly with clients and see the impact of what we do in their day to day lives. My journey has not been about waiting on luck. It has been about taking the risk and showing up consistently.
