Today we’d like to introduce you to Clayton Vaughn.
Hi Clayton, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born and raised in Texas. I’ve been cooking bbq on a grill since I was about 6-7 years of age. Growing up my mother called me “Cookie” and I would help her when we would host different family events with grilling. As I got older I started cooking for my friends and family and my late father-in-law and I had an idea to start a bbq business together. My father-in-law had passed away in July on 2024 and this is when I started the business Generational Smokehouse. About a year and half later we are here and it shocks me everyday how much we have grown in such a short time with God’s grace!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s had a few challenges but it’s all been about sorting out the kinks of the business for it to flow smoothly. We are finding our footing pretty well now but just trying to keep up with demand as the business grows in popularity.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am the owner and operator or Generational Smokehouse. One of the fastest growing small black owned BBQ business in metro ATL!
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My wife, Yasmine Vaughn, has helped out alot with the logistical parts of the business.
I also want to thank Eva with Culinary Street Eats that helped me get our business off the ground. Her expertise really helped with helping me understand the business aspect of the food industry and obtaining my appropriate licensing and branding.
