Today we’d like to introduce you to Anthonia Berry.

Hi Anthonia, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always had a creative side paired with a strong business mindset, and for a long time I searched for a career that allowed both to exist. I found that balance in law firm business development and marketing.

I began my career in 2006 in the Cayman Islands at a global law firm specializing in investment funds, real estate, trusts and asset finance. That role introduced me to the strategic side of professional services and set the foundation for what would become a 15 year in-house career. My passion for the work allowed me to advance quickly and gain experience across international and U.S. based law firms.

After relocating to Georgia in 2014 and continuing my work with a local firm, I launched Strategy Academy in 2019 to serve law firms more broadly and focus on what I do best, helping attorneys grow through clear, practical and results driven business development strategies. Today, Strategy Academy is a full-service marketing and business development agency dedicated to helping law firms build strong brands and sustainable growth.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Building a business is rarely a smooth road. I launched Strategy Academy just before the pandemic with what I thought was a solid head start, only to see clients disappear almost overnight. I was faced with a choice: walk away or stay the course. Courage, creativity, and faith kept me grounded and I chose to rebuild, rethinking how we could deliver real value to law firms in an uncertain time.

That period forced me to reshape the business into something stronger and more intentional. Today, we serve our clients in ways that go beyond transactions, many have become trusted partners and friends.
Another ongoing challenge has been building the right team. Attorneys think differently and serving them well requires a rare balance of creativity, business acumen and intuition. Finding people who can truly operate in that space is not easy, but it is essential.

Finally, one of the biggest hurdles has been helping attorneys understand that marketing and business development aren’t one-time efforts, they are the heartbeat of a law firm. Ironically, they are often the first areas cut during uncertainty, when they should be the first investments made. Shifting that mindset continues to be a challenge, but it is also where the greatest growth happens.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Strategy Academy?
Strategy Academy is a law firm business development and marketing agency dedicated to working with law firms to create revenue streams.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is the value of adaptability and versatility. In business, especially in the legal industry, change is constant. Laws evolve, markets shift, and client needs change quickly. Without the ability to adjust course and respond in real time, it’s impossible to serve clients effectively.

Being nimble has allowed our team to anticipate change, pivot when necessary, and consistently deliver at a high level. Those two qualities, adaptability and versatility, have become the foundation of how we operate and why we are able to support our clients with clarity, confidence, and consistency.

Equally important is the understanding that relationships are king. Long-term success is not built on transactions, it is built on trust. When you invest in relationships, you gain insight, loyalty and partnership that no strategy or campaign can replace. Those relationships allow us to better understand our clients’ businesses, anticipate their needs, and show up as true strategic partners, not just service providers.
