Today we’d like to introduce you to Clydaijah Woods.
Hi Clydaijah , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
What started in 2010 as a creative young girl who loved drawing and expressing herself through art has now blossomed into a full-time calling. My journey into makeup began from pure creative interest I was fascinated by how makeup could enhance beauty and become a form of art.
At just 15 years old, I began going live on Facebook, creating theatrical and everyday looks simply for the love of it. I wasn’t trying to build a business or an audience I was just expressing my creativity. But without realizing it, I was planting seeds. One day, someone asked me to do their makeup, and that’s when I recognized this gift could become a career.
From there, I took my craft more seriously, welcomed clients, and focused on building my portfolio. Year after year, my passion grew into purpose. Now in 2026, I am a full time makeup artist, the owner of two beauty counters inside Beauty and Beyond Hair Store, and an educator teaching both group and one-on-one classes. I travel, teach marketing and creativity in makeup artistry, and help others turn their dreams into reality.
But for me, makeup is more than beauty it’s ministry. As a faith based beauty professional, I use my work to uplift, restore confidence, and remind women of their true identity. I strive to bring professionalism, warmth, and generosity into every service. My mission is to make beauty accessible and to shine light on women who may feel overlooked.
Makeup and content creation have opened doors I never imagined and placed me in rooms only God could have orchestrated. This journey started with creativity, but it continues with purpose, faith, and a heart to serve.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Has it been a smooth road? Not at all.
My journey has come with real challenges behind the scenes. As an only child, I often felt alone, and that sometimes carried into my business journey. I dealt with fear of failure, moments of self doubt, and not always knowing where to start. There were times I questioned if I was good enough or if this path was truly for me.
One of my biggest struggles was learning how to navigate business the right way, understanding finances, building consistency, and stepping out on faith even when the results were not immediate. I realized quickly that talent alone is not enough. Mindset and discipline matter too.
But through my faith, my perspective changed. I no longer see myself as alone because I know God is with me. I have learned that while business requires strategy and resources, what I truly needed first was trust, faith, and belief in the vision God placed in me.
It was not about having a perfect client list, a viral moment, or instant success. It was about alignment. When I began putting God at the center and following His order for my life, doors started opening and clarity followed.
My struggles taught me that this journey is bigger than makeup. It is about growth, obedience, and purpose. And I have come to believe that with God, nothing is impossible.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about TouchedbyTonae Makeup Artistry ?
I am a makeup artist, educator, public speaker, and beauty brand owner who uses beauty as both a creative outlet and a purpose driven calling. I currently own three brands: Touched by Tonae Makeup Artistry, BAWM BEAUTI which stands for Beautifully And Wonderfully Made Beauty, and my newest brand, Overlooked Cosmetics.
Touched by Tonae Makeup Artistry is where my hands and artistry meet women in real time. Through my services, I help women explore their beauty, build confidence, and feel empowered. My specialization is enhancing natural beauty while still allowing each client to feel like the best version of themselves. Many people know me for my soft glam, detailed lash work, and my ability to make clients feel comfortable and seen.
BAWM BEAUTI is the heart behind my message. This brand is faith based and focuses on inner beauty, identity, and healing. Through it, I share my faith and encourage women to see themselves the way God sees them. It is about reminding women that they are beautifully and wonderfully made and worthy of love and care.
Overlooked Cosmetics was created to make beauty accessible for all women. The name itself speaks to my mission. No woman should feel unseen or forgotten. This brand allows me to provide quality beauty products at accessible price points so more women can experience beauty and confidence.
What sets me apart is that my work goes beyond makeup. I truly care about the person in my chair. My brands are built on faith, encouragement, professionalism, and purpose. I aim to create safe spaces where women feel valued, uplifted, and confident.
Brand wise, I am most proud that everything I build has meaning behind it. Each brand flows into the next with intention. My mission is that through my work, people feel love, hope, and encouragement. I want readers to know that my services are not just about looking good but about feeling whole, confident, and seen.
At the core of it all, my business is about serving people, walking in purpose, and allowing my gifts to make room for me
How do you think about luck?
I do not view my life or journey through the lens of luck. For me, what many call luck is truly the grace and blessings of God. I believe God orders my steps, and every opportunity or lesson has purpose behind it.
No matter what challenges or setbacks I have faced personally or professionally, I have always come back stronger, more confident, and more visible than before. Every struggle has strengthened me for the next level. Growth often comes with resistance, and the higher we climb, the more distractions and obstacles can appear. But those moments build endurance, wisdom, and clarity.
I have learned not to focus on what goes wrong but on what God is doing in the process. If I dwell on the negative, it can cloud my vision of what is truly good and what is still possible. Life is a gift and should be valued, even in the learning seasons.
So rather than luck, I credit faith, perseverance, and God’s guidance. Those are what have carried me forward and shaped both my life and my business.
