Check Out Chief MoonHead’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chief MoonHead.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As far as I can remember I’ve been doing art since before I entered the first grade. I remember drawing rainbow fish and my school started using my art work for the 1st grade curriculum. (I think they still owe me a check till this day lol jk)
Did art my entire life through out school and teenage years but fell off of it towards my adult years but even then I was still creating it’s just music was my medium of choice.
Around 2019 I started getting back into the visual arts, drawing and painting. But it wasn’t till 2021 I decided to do things a little differently. I briefly moved to Philadelphia and between seeing the art scene out there and Atlanta I figured I wanted to do something that set me apart from other artist. I decided to use my trade skills and my interior paint/design background and combine it with art so I decided to start painting on old windows as my canvas. Michael Basquiat being one of my favorite self expressive artists I decided to take a page out of his book and switch up my choice of canvas. I’ve never seen anybody do art on windows outside of the stained glass you see on churches and older homes and decided that that was going to be my thing. That artist signature that separates me from other artist no matter what it is I decide to paint. Now after doing windows and experimenting art in that form I moved on to doing furniture pieces.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a journey for sure. Different transitions and me finding different mediums where I can find my self expressions. A yellow brick road type of journey with highs and lows. A self learning/mastery journey where you just grow and overcome different obstacles that help shape character.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a visual artist, a music artist and all around creative. I’m a home interior painter/decorator and that’s where I find a lot of my inspirations through imagining myself in different spaces.
I’m most proud of the way I can stay innovative and my willingness to grow which stops me from blocking myself in.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My ability to adapt to change is one of my greatest characteristics in my opinion. It’s keeps my alchemy game sharp. Dealing with any situation wether deemed light or dark and figuring out how I can move within any space that I’m in.
Always trying to do better keeping in mind my old self is my only competition to help keep me guided in my own lane.
