Today we’d like to introduce you to Irwin Litvak.
Hi Irwin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Irwin, and I come from a Ukrainian immigrant family. After earning my degree in Business Administration and Finance, I initially pursued opportunities in Manhattan’s financial sector. However, facing intense competition, I pivoted to website development and spent two years at The Gate Worldwide, a digital agency where I honed my technical skills.
When The Gate lost a major client (Con Edison) in 2018, the tech job market became challenging. After eighteen months of job searching during this downturn, I made a bold decision to transition into healthcare. I returned to school and completed all required biology prerequisites in just one year, taking courses every semester: fall, winter, spring, and summer. I then enrolled in Long Island University’s accelerated nursing program, graduating Summa Cum Laude in two years. I passed the NCLEX on my first attempt and became a registered nurse.
Throughout nursing school and during my time at New York Presbyterian, I continued building websites for local Brooklyn businesses, steadily growing my portfolio. However, after four months of clinical practice, I realized that while I loved working with and helping patients, the systemic changes I envisioned to improve patient care were unlikely to materialize within the hospital’s business structure.
At that point, my web development business had gained significant momentum. I made the decision to leave nursing and fully commit to my website development and marketing agency. For the past four years, I’ve built a thriving business distinguished by our concierge-level service approach, guiding clients through every step from initial consultation to post-launch optimization. Our business-oriented design philosophy focuses on enhanced user experience that converts visitors into leads, while our comprehensive marketing services improve client rankings on Google. The results speak for themselves: over 140 incredible Google reviews across our two offices, and clients consistently reporting better returns and increased lead generation. I continue to grow and evolve, driven by a commitment to delivering measurable results and exceptional client experiences.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The early days were brutal. I was juggling 12-hour nursing shifts while building websites until 2 or 3 in the morning, constantly questioning if I was crazy for trying to do both. Making the leap to leave nursing was terrifying—I had just spent years retraining for this stable career, and here I was walking away from it. Fortunately, I was living with my family who supported my ideas and decisions, which gave me the freedom to take that risk. Without their support, I’m not sure I would’ve had the courage to make the jump.
The first year running the business full-time was a steep learning curve. I quickly realized that being good at building websites doesn’t mean you’re good at running a business. I had to figure out pricing, contracts, client management, and accounting all while delivering the actual work. There were clients who didn’t pay on time, projects that went sideways, and plenty of moments of self-doubt. But each challenge taught me something valuable and shaped how I run my business today. Those struggles are why I’m so committed to providing exceptional service because I remember what it felt like to be overwhelmed and figuring everything out on the fly.
We’ve been impressed with IL Webdesign | Website & Marketing Agency, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the core, we’re a website development and marketing agency that specializes in helping local businesses and businesses across the US establish a strong online presence that actually drives results. We’re not just building pretty websites—we’re creating business tools designed to convert visitors into customers and generate real leads.
What sets us apart is our concierge-level approach. From the moment a client calls us to well after their website launches, we’re there guiding them through every step. Too many agencies build a site and disappear. We stay involved, optimizing, adjusting, and ensuring our clients see continuous improvement in their Google rankings and lead generation. Our business-oriented design philosophy means every element on a website serves a purpose—improving user experience and driving conversions.
I’m incredibly proud of the trust we’ve built with our clients. Over 140 Google reviews across our two offices doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because we genuinely care about our clients’ success and treat their business like it’s our own. My unique background from finance to tech to healthcare and back to entrepreneurship gives me a perspective most web developers don’t have. I understand business strategy, I know what it’s like to work directly with people, and I bring that human-centered approach to everything we do.
What I want people to know is that we’re not your typical agency. We’re invested in your success, we communicate clearly throughout the process, and we deliver measurable results. Our clients don’t just get a website, they get a partner committed to their growth.
