Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Gaskins.
Cindy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I founded Jay’s HOPE in 2006 after the death of my 5 year old son Jay. Jay battled a pediatric brain tumor for almost 3 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Fundraising can be challenging, but Jays HOPE has been truly blessed with amazing community support over the years.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Jay’s HOPE is a faith-based organization that provides direct support to children battling cancer and their families. We exist to meet childhood cancer families with immediate, personal and practical support. I am most proud of how we are a bright light in our Jay’s HOPE families darkest moments. What makes us different is that we put relationships over requirements, respond quickly when help is needed most, care for the whole family-not just the patient- lead with lived experience, empathy, and faith, and remain present long after the crisis to help families feel less alone every step of the way.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have an amazing team that shows up for our families every day and has a heart for our mission.
