Rising Stars: Meet Beatriz Gonzalez of Acworth, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beatriz Gonzalez.

Hi Beatriz, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
La Piña se Puso Agria was born from real conversations and real life between me Beatriz Gonzalez and a friend Leira Garcia who is my co-host in the Podcast. The name comes from a familiar saying in Puerto Rico “when something sweet turns sour”. It represents those moments we don’t plan for: stress, loss, violence, immigration struggles, mental health challenges, or simply feeling overwhelmed by life. When la piña se pone agria, life is hard, confusing, and heavy.
Instead of staying silent, this podcast chooses to talk.
Through honest conversations with community leaders, professionals, and everyday people, La Piña se Puso Agria creates a safe space to break the silence around difficult topics. We talk about what many people experience but don’t always know how to name or ask for help with.
Our purpose is simple and intentional:
Share accurate information
Connect listeners to trusted community resources
Encourage people to ask questions and seek support
Remind our community they are not alone
We take a practical approach. When challenges come, (and they always do) we don’t just talk about the problem. We ask: What help already exists? Who can help? Where do you go next? We value proven resources, organizations, and services that have supported our community for years.
At its heart, La Piña se Puso Agria is about empowerment. Knowledge reduces fear. Resources create options. Conversation creates healing.
When life turns sour, we sit together, talk it through, and share the tools to move forward, one story, one resource, one voice at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many people, there comes a moment when life becomes challenging; what we describe in our podcast as La Piña se Puso Agria “when the pineapple turns sour.” As the hosts of the podcast, we experienced that moment ourselves. Due to personal circumstances, we made the difficult decision to pause our recordings for a year. Those challenges helped us grow, reflect, and refocus. In 2026, we are returning, with faith and renewed purpose, to continue sharing information and resources that support and uplift our community.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At my regular job, I work as a career coach at a nonprofit organization, helping people overcome barriers to employment through job readiness training, career guidance, and connections to community resources. I specialize in meeting people where they are and turning uncertainty into clear, practical next steps.
I’m known for being approachable, organized, and consistent. People trust me because I listen, ask thoughtful questions, and follow through.
What I’m most proud of is seeing participants gain confidence and move forward, whether that’s getting a job, starting training, or simply believing in themselves again.

What sets me apart is my balance of structure and empathy. I use proven methods, clear expectations, and encouragement to help people make real, lasting progress.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I see luck as opportunity. My work at a nonprofit opened my eyes to the importance of sharing the right information and resources. That’s what inspired me and Leira to create the podcast to reach more people at once and support the community beyond my regular role.
