Rising Stars: Meet Dajour Ashwood of Dunwoody

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dajour Ashwood.

Hi Dajour, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Breaking ground in Harlem NY, I was introduced to filmmaking in Junior High at an afterschool program. That program lead to me starring in an Documentary called “Harlem Diary,” which won several awards in LA and aired on the Discovery Channel. Taking all that I learned from camera, editing and acting, I decided to create my own art. I wanted to be more than just an actor, I fell in love with creating. In 2020, after years of doing short films, I decided to create series. In 2025, I created a sci-fi series called M3real1ty that is currently airing on platforms such as Amazon, Sling, and Tubi. By 2027 I will have a film or series on Netflix at the rate I am achieving my goals.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been pretty interesting on the journey as an actor and filmmaker. However, I never let money or closed doors keep me down. These challenges have pushed me to work smarter, read more, and dive deeper into become successful. I have opted to act on my fear. It’s been great.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am proud of two things: The first is earning a recurring role on Tyler Perry’s Divorced Sister’s Season 2 TV show. The second is raising funds via Kickstarter for my third season of my series “M3real1ty.”

How do you think about happiness?
I love love, did I say love? I love bringing my thoughts to life. So many of our visions, ideas, and thoughts go to waste. I am proud that most of mine make it to the light. It makes me happy when I can bring people together because of a thought I created in my mind.
