Hidden Gems: Meet Krutika Desai of Nexus Chiropractic, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Krutika Desai.

Hi Krutika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Chiropractic found me. I started out pursing an education in science with the aim of entering the medical field. As a child I knew I wanted to be a doctor. I started out pre pharmacy and hated it. Upon nearing completion of my bachelor’s degree in biology I thought I would go the research route and eventually get a PhD. Upon working in a lab, I quickly realized this wasn’t the path for me. Upon researching allied health careers, I came across Chiropractic. Everything I read about Chiropractic resonated with what my views on health and wellbeing represent hence I embarked on the path to becoming a Doctor of Chiropractic at Life University in Marietta, GA. That was the absolute right decision for me. I am in my 21st year of practice and find true purpose every day when I see people getting better, regaining mobility, living a pain free life and optimizing their wellbeing. I love what I do, and I thrive when patients live their best life. I have been serving in the Tyrone community since December 2006. I started out working for Durden Chiropractic and in October 2020 I saw a long-term vision and goal come to fruition when I was able to start my own practice. I was able to buyout the practice and start Nexus Chiropractic Clinic and continue being a resource and faciliatory for wellbeing in the Tyrone and surrounding communities.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Life is never linear there are always peaks and valleys. Success takes focus, dedication, persistence, resilience, hard work and lots of other skills. Sacrifices have to be made. Priorities have to be set. Clarity has to be found. Nothing great is made in a day or alone. Finding the right team that stands with your mission and vision is crucial to a company’s success and a major challenge. Being the best captain to your ship and steering the ship where it needs to get entails endless hours of growing, learning, bettering yourself. Showing up authentically and with high intentions and walking the talk is necessary for my patients and staff; not always easy to do but vital to keep growing.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Nexus Chiropractic, LLC?
At Nexus, we pride ourselves in getting to the root cause of a problem. We see the person as a whole, we are not just looking to get rid of symptoms we want to optimize the body for highest expression and optimal health. We do this by taking a comprehensive approach. We look at all problems and conditions for a neurometabolic approach. We want to optimize structural alignment, and this is achieved by very specific, low force Chiropractic adjustments. Dr. Desai is board certified in the Atlas Orthogonal technique, an upper cervical adjustment technique to get the Atlas (C1) bone aligned. She then uses the impulse adjustor to align the rest of the spine and extremities. Structure determines function, poor structural alignment leads to poor function. Aligning the spine resets the nervous system. Then specialized nutritional protocols are developed to aid the patient in reducing systemic inflammation thereby resetting the metabolic pathways for optimal healing. Healing happens from the inside out. We enable the patients to get the right building blocks to heal their bodies. Stress reduction techniques, mind body resets and lifestyle recommendations are made to empower the patient to live their best life. We do not heard patients in and out. Dr. Desai spends time to get to know her patients and create customized treatment plans for them.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I enjoyed learning, reading and gardening. I always knew I wanted to be a doctor so that I could help people. The second-best thing for me was playing teacher with my friends and brother. I was always the teacher teaching. That empowered me. Interestingly, enough that has translated into my career as a Chiropractor. I get to teach others how to get well and stay well. Nature was always energizing to me. I loved trees, plants, flowers. My grandmother’s vegetable garden was my favorite place to be. The ocean, mountains and majestic trees give me a sense of peace and calm my nervous system. I was always very shy, reserved, quiet. I preferred spending time in my head rather than with others. I never sought to stand out, didn’t like attention. A lot of the same things are still very fulfilling to me. I dream of living on a farm, growing my own food, surrounded by nature. Watching the starts shine bright in the sky. Reading, learning, cooking wholesome meals that feed the mind, body and soul. travelling the world learning about new cultures and people.
