Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Jackson.
Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What’s good! My name is Christian Jashun Jackson, formally known as Jashun. I am an independent artist and producer from Grantville, Ga. I grew up in musical and hardworking households. My granddad got me into guitar; my mom got me into singing; my friends got me into producing. I began to perform in my church choir, until I got to high school and started singing in acapella groups, and musicals.
My interest in the process of creating a song became an addiction. I wanted to transport myself into a pocket world I created. And sit in it for however long I wanted to sit. Not caring about what bothered me outside of the sonic walls I built around me. I felt free to be more like myself and release my self hatred, constant indecisiveness, and other negativity. I started making arrangements using GarageBand, Logic, and voice memos to help get ideas out of my head. I got my first studio setup during quarantine as a graduation gift from my uncle. I downloaded FL Studio and shut out everything. Spending long hours making whatever came to mind and using it as my form of therapy.
Now, I’m 6 years in and I’m still learning myself and my sound. After me and my homies accomplished a 2K placement, the creation process hadn’t been as fun or as exciting as it used to be. My ideas became more boxed in and not as bold or carefree as it was in result of me overthinking about what other people thought and my ability in engineering. I stepped away from music for a time just to touch grass and be more grounded and sure of myself. Now I’m back and running full steam ahead with a good head on my shoulders and good people around me showing love and support. Im curious to see what else this journey offers me. I thank God for giving me this gift and passion for the craft. And I thank my listeners old and new for showing love and support as well. I’m currently working on a project, but hopefully in the meantime I cross paths with people who can connect with me and my little world
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a little rocky. Some of the struggles I had to face were with myself. I slowly became unmotivated with beat/writers block. Nothing sparked inspiration for me and it affected the music I was creating.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an independent artist and producer. Best known for my single, “Jumpin,” from the 2K25 video game and soundtrack. I’m most proud of my growth and the genuine connections I’ve made through my journey. I think my ideas set me apart from others. I love to be inspired and experiment with things that make me feel something.
Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have a lot of favorites, but one that comes to mind is when me, my grandma, and my Papa would just drive in his truck on a Sunday. I’d be in the backseat playing with my DS ,or scratching old scratchers ,while we pass by open fields peppered with cows. We’d always stop to get ice cream from somewhere and sit inside til my mom came to get me. I love that memory because it was simple at that time and some of the last memories I had with them.
