Conversations with Dr. Tamala Coleman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tamala Coleman.

Dr. Tamala Coleman

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Yes, my story basically started as a little girl . I would keep a spiral notebook and write about my day. Similar to a diary without having an actual diary book . I have always had a niche for writing and I continued until my teenage years. Unfortunately, life happened and I did not write for many years thereafter. I do remember when I was around 27 years old I decided to begin writing again . I did not have anything published till I was around 35 years old.
In 2007 ,I published my first poetry book and then a children’s book and my first stage play. I have tested the waters from Poetry, Children’s Book, Devotional’s , Stage Plays and Short Film and a even broader scale in Podcasting for the last 8 years. Its truly been a journey!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. I had to endure some problems and challenges along the way. There were a few delays as I started this journey over 25 years ago. There have been a lot of good things to happen along the way. I have met and connected with many people along the way . I have been encouraged and inspired by their journey’s
and to hear their stories has given me encouragement and inspiration and strength as I continue to pursue my God-given gift. Nothing that’s worth having comes really easy you will have some challenges, disappointments and delays. I learned how to adapt and keep it moving and not give up.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an Insurance Processor that I have professionally worked in for over 20 years. Yet, my hobbies and side job is what I feel I was born to do. Writing is my God-given gift. Outside of the Ministry as a Minister I love God’s people and I love to Preach and Teach God’s Holy Word. I am the Editor & Chief of NSpire Global Christian Magazine.
I decided to start this magazine a year prior to the Covid Era in 2019 a time when many were disconnected and dealing with this overwhelming period. I have continued to Spotlight many Authors, Ministers, Actors and anyone with a Testimonial Story. I am most proud of how far I have come as an Author. To date I have over 19 books to date with both Individual Books as well as Collaborations and 14x Best Seller Author. I thank God for my journey and what He has allowed me to do over the last 25 plus years or so. I am Grateful!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory was a really funny time. I remember many children grew up in our neighborhood and this when I realize God had a future plan for me as a Minister.

One day I decided to Baptist kids in the neighborhood with one of my mothers Pink Mixing Bowls . I remember kids coming from everywhere, they lined up to get dumped with water as I Baptized them in the name of the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. Now, I’m not sure if they were trying to keep cool because it was summer time or what but it just may have resonated with some of the kids later in life.

I had a great childhood and I cherish many memories to date. I am grateful to have been afforded to live a great childhood.
