Today we’d like to introduce you to Destiny Corosine.
Hi Destiny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Wow, that’s a lot of reflecting. Well, first and foremost, my name is Destiny Corosine. I wear many hats—I’m a creative, manager, director, instructor, dancer, and choreographer—but today we’re highlighting my role as the CEO and founder of DesCo. Studios, a dance event production and talent management company.
To truly understand what DesCo. Studios represents, I have to share my background, as it serves as the foundation of everything I’ve built. Along with all my professional hats, I am also a Latin, queer woman and the proud daughter of an immigrant family. Being raised in a Colombian household with Puerto Rican roots, rhythm came naturally to me (Thank you, ancestors!)—especially on Saturdays (if you know, you know). Music was my first stepping stone; my Mami and Tita were dancers in their time, and my dad was, and still is, a DJ. Having a family full of entertainers, it felt destined that I would continue in the world of entertainment. I remember my family searching for the right hobby for me growing up, and after starting and quitting quite a few activities, dance became the place where my heart and body felt at home.
I began training my technique at the age of 10 at ALL STARS Performing Arts. By 13, I was choreographing professionally for festivals and recreational performances, and by 15, I began instructing kids and adults of all ages. Latin dance- including social, ballroom, and fusion styles- is my specialty, a reflection of my latin roots. I fell in love with every stage of dance—from being a student learning the foundations, to mastering performance and delivery, to pouring into the next generation as an instructor. I discovered that storytelling isn’t only in the final performance; it lives in the process, too. Those feelings of inspiration, creative frustration, and fulfillment ultimately sparked my desire to create a space for other passion-driven creatives—and DesCo. Studios is exactly that.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not—it has not been a smooth road, but when has a ‘smooth road’ ever offered an interesting story? The “smoothest” part of this journey has been knowing that I was meant to do something in this world. The hardest part has been not being 100% certain what that something is meant to be. Truthfully, the most challenging part of building DesCo. Studios has been my own mind. When you’re building something new from the ground up, self-doubt is inevitable- especially when the foundation of what you’re creating is rooted in love and passion in a system-based world. Uncertainty has been, and will almost always be, the hardest pill to swallow until you learn to trust yourself.
Beyond the internal battles, there have been external challenges as well. The lack of understanding from other entertainers about the value of a dancer is a challenge the dance community has faced for years. Dancers are already some of the most overlooked and underpaid artists in the entertainment industry, while also being the strongest support system in other realms of artistry (i.e., for singers, in film, theatre, sports, etc.). That lack of consideration allows for the devaluation of a dancer’s training, investment, education, and hard-earned time. For DesCo. Studios, this has meant being intentional about finding the right network of collaborators- people who truly respect the art form and the artist. We pride ourselves on prioritizing our dancers’ art and time, while also remaining accessible to our community through collaboration.
Even after years of strategically planning DesCo. Studios, I know the company will continue to face challenges. But those challenges are what refine us. They push us to grow bigger and better in alignment with our mission: to empower underrepresented dancers by building an authentic, collaborative community where artists grow together, access industry knowledge, and receive the representation and compensation they deserve. Through innovative event production and intentional talent development, we cultivate well-rounded artists who lead with passion, cultural awareness, and excellence.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about DesCo. Studios?
As a talent management and dance event production company, DesCo. Studios specializes in managing amateur and professional talent by providing dancers with resources, priority booking opportunities, and specialized training. In addition, DesCo. Studios curates events for dancers, reestablishing community while inviting innovation.
Currently, DesCo. Studios is workshopping its main events (stay tuned—very, very exciting news for the Atlanta community), but in respect to keeping the surprise, what I will say is, “Something is moving in Atlanta, and soon, so will you…” In the meantime, we are hosting industry masterclasses open to the public, with priority access going to our members. These classes consist of dedication to foundations, industry-based conversations, and choreography crafted toward intentional training.
Furthermore, DesCo. Studios offers management services to our members, making us a reliable source for opportunities and income. We work alongside professionals in the entertainment industry to pair our amateur and professional talent with events such as concerts, festivals, music videos, showcases, etc. While our standard is paid-only work, we also thoughtfully consider select collaborations that support emerging talent and provide meaningful professional exposure. As DesCo. Studios aims to provide for the community, mentorship and professional development naturally occur as the company continues to reach bigger audiences.
DesCo. Studios maintains exclusivity by remaining completely community-based within its training, with the exception of our masterclasses. We are not a training program, but we do offer training opportunities for dancers. Each week, we invite Atlanta’s own, well-trained dance community members to host training sessions and teach their specialty—open to the public for a donation-based cost. Unlike typical training programs, this allows dancers that may be struggling, but yearn to train, the opportunity to do so. We are intentional about growing and developing our dancers from a place of support. At the same time, while community is a quality we pride ourselves on, we are also aware that growth comes from beyond our limits, and for that, we also offer masterclasses as previously mentioned.
Masterclasses are hosted by trained professionals (mostly) outside of Atlanta. With no exclusivity to just one style of dance, DesCo. Studios dedicates time to bring instructors, choreographers, and industry experts into the studio to further develop the hard and soft skills necessary to navigate the entertainment industry.
If you are a dancer looking for support at any stage of your dance career, DesCo. Studios offers a community ready to grow with you. And if you are a brand, artist, or organization looking for well-rounded talent to bring your vision to life, we provide only the most exceptional professionals available.
As founder and CEO of DesCo. Studios, connection is very important to me, both as a professional and as a person. I am a true believer that without connection, we have nothing, and that creating a space for like-minded people with true ambition and eagerness to grow in their passion is only fuel to continue developing this brand. Whether it be a platonic relationship or a professional one, I aim to rebuild connection within our community, as it has grown short over time. DesCo. Studios brings professionalism, sustainability, and execution to restore cultural fluency in the entertainment industry.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Just a little message to any performers, entrepreneurs, or anyone reading this- if you have the ability to wish, you have the ability to dream. If you have the ability to dream, you have the ability to envision. If you have the ability to envision, you are more than capable of turning your wishes into reality. Life is a journey of ups and downs for everyone, but it is up to you what mindset you choose to live with.
To make a long story short, in 2019, my Mami and I were involved in a car accident that left my physical health compromised. As a young dancer, this was devastating news to receive because it felt like my dance career was over right then and there. My mentality of falling into that “reality” completely shifted when I realized my mind was more powerful than the odds the doctors had given me. It took much ambition, passion, and stubbornness to choose to keep going, but also a lot of gratitude, compassion, and love to push through it. I was also extremely blessed to have the support system I had then and still have today <3. Where I am today may look different from where I expected to be when I was 16, but my dream still remains and every day I am living in it- for that, I feel more than fulfilled. If my journey has taught me anything, it’s that our dreams are only as limited as the belief we place in them. So if you have a wish, dream it, envision it, and choose every day to turn it into your reality.
