Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalyn Smith.
Hi Jalyn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m originally from a small town in South Georgia called Leesburg, and I moved to metro Atlanta for college. I dedicated my life to Christ while I was getting my Master’s degree and along that journey I realized that writing is how I got to know God and His Word the best. I would journal my Bible study notes, prayers, and thoughts. The fire I had for God and learning about Him inspired me to share that with other women who are just getting to know Him.
From there I designed a journal named Journal 1:5, which is inspired by Jeremiah 1:5 which says, “Before I formed you in your mother’s womb, I knew you.” This scripture became the foundation of my business because for so long I felt like I did not know who I was and how much God loved me. The purpose of the journal is for writers to slowly discover that same sentiment and who God created them to be.
I never initially planned for this journal to turn into a full business but One Five Print Co. launched on May 1st, 2025. just days before I earned my Master’s degree. Since then, the business has grown to include bookmarks, bible tabs, and notepads. Today, One Five Print Co, has organically grown beyond what I could have ever imagined. I have also been blessed with opportunities to attend various community events as a vendor and share the heart behind my business with others.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say it was a smooth start in the beginning, but the real challenge came when my personal life became overwhelming and I felt like I couldn’t keep up with my business the way I wanted to. For the past two years, I’ve been working full-time while working an additional job, so finding the time and energy to consistently show up for my business has sometimes been difficult.
Another challenge that I am sure many small business owners can relate to is finances. Running a business is not cheap and there are always new expenses when you’re trying to grow. There have definitely been moments where I’ve has to trust God through the uncertainty.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is called One Five Print Co., and it’s a faith-based brand centered around helping people slow down and spend intentional time with God. It started with my journal, Journal 1:5 – Discovering Who God Knew, which was inspired by Jeremiah 1:5 and my own personal journey of learning who God says I am.
A lot of times we read scripture or listen to sermons, but we don’t always take the time to actually process what we’re learning. Writing became the way I connected most with God, so I created a journal that gives people a space to write their prayers, reflect on scripture, and work through what they are learning in their faith.
Since launching, the brand has grown to include other products like bookmarks, Bible tabs, and notepads that help support Bible study and quiet time. What really sets my brand apart is that every product comes from something that helped me personally in my walk with God.
What I’m most proud of is seeing people connect with the journal and share how it has helped them spend more intentional time with God. At the end of the day, my goal isn’t just to sell products, it’s to create stationery items that help people grow in their faith and discover who God created them to be.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success for me is bringing people closer to Christ and knowing that I’m living out what I am called to do as a Christian, which is to share the Gospel and point people back to Him.
