Today we’d like to introduce you to Dirtbomber Co..
Hi Dirtbomber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m an illustrator and graphic designer. I’ve been drawing since the age of 6 and worked as a Graphic Designer for over 20 years at various companies and design agencies. I have a passion for art. Drawing people is something I’ve always loved and can never seem to get enough of.
Recently, I’ve made a departure from doing design work for other companies and started to focus on developing my own company, my own brand and put my work out into the world under the name “Dirtbomber”. I’ve sold some work, had a few art shows and really refined my style a bit over the last few years.
My work is now sold as prints and on t-shirts. I’m hoping to launch a whole line of t-shirts with a variety of my illustration work on them.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road hasn’t been too rough. I had parents who were also in the arts and gave great guidance that landed me amazing opportunities. Things are getting harder today more so than ever since the birth of AI and the design jobs that use to pay my bills become more scarce.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I draw people. I’m a black illustrator with a fascination for features. If I could describe my style I’d say I was a MashUp of Anime and Graffiti. My drawings typically start off by hand, then the line art is brought into a computer where I apply light, color, and shading before releasing the work as a print or post on my website or social media.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I think that art is very subjective. No matter how good you get at creating it, there will always be people you think who are better and worse than you. I love competition but sometimes I have to remember that I do this for me first and for the love of the craft regardless of what ANYone thinks of it. So if you love to create art because it make you feel something, create as much as you can. Express yourself.
