Today we’d like to introduce you to Regan Dargan.
Hi Regan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Growing up, I played multiple sports, and athletics were a huge part of my foundation. I went on to play collegiate basketball, which taught me discipline, resilience, and how to perform under pressure. During my career, I unfortunately experienced an injury that ultimately shifted the direction I thought I was headed in, but in many ways, it clarified my purpose. What felt like a setback at the time became the influence for my career in Physical Therapy.
That experience inspired me to pursue my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Emory University, where I immersed myself in the science of human movement, recovery, and performance. While in school, I began working as an exercise physiologist helping individuals recover from complex neurological and spinal cord injuries. This experience heavily shaped my perspective on perseverance and purpose. I continue to work now as a Physical Therapist, helping individuals regain independence and return to meaningful activities within the SCI population.
At the same time, I began to pursue another passion. While in PT school, I enrolled in modeling school with John Casablancas. What has always been a passion was finally becoming a full reality. I’ve since modeled in bridal expos, for fitness apps, at New York Fashion Week, and in promotional and live events across multiple states.
Today, I continue to grow in the modeling industry and am signed with three agencies based in New York and Atlanta.
My journey has been constant ups and downs, but I’m grateful to continue pursuing purpose in all aspects of my careers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. One of the biggest challenges was the injury I experienced while playing collegiate basketball, which forced me to step away from the game and rethink my path. At the time it was difficult, but it ultimately led me to pursue Physical Therapy and my passion for modeling.
PT school was demanding, especially while working. At the same time, I had started modeling, so balancing school, work, and building a presence in a competitive industry came with its own challenges.
There were moments of uncertainty and plenty of rejection along the way, but those experiences taught me resilience and pushed me to keep growing in both my clinical career and modeling.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a Physical Therapist, I focus on helping individuals recover from complex neurological injuries and conditions. My background there actually began while I was in PT school when I worked as an exercise physiologist. That experience gave me early exposure to working with individuals recovering from spinal cord injuries. What I love most about this work is helping people regain independence and confidence. Alongside my clinical career, I’ve also built a path in the modeling industry. After attending modeling school, I began pursuing opportunities in fashion, fitness, and promotional modeling.
What I’m most proud of is being able to pursue two very different passions at the same time, one centered on service and healthcare, and the other on creativity and expression. I think what sets me apart is that combination. My background in athletics, rehabilitation, and health gives me a unique perspective in modeling, especially in fitness and performance spaces, while my experiences in modeling have helped me develop confidence, communication skills, and adaptability that also benefit me as a clinician.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
One of the most important qualities behind my success has been resilience. Whether it was overcoming an injury during my collegiate career, navigating the challenges of PT school, or building a presence in the competitive modeling industry, there have been plenty of moments that required persistence. I’ve learned that success rarely happens overnight. Being able to stay consistent, adapt, and keep moving forward despite setbacks has been key.
