Conversations with Raegan Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raegan Johnson.

Hi Raegan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started creating content during my first year of college as a way to document my experiences and connect with other young women navigating the same stage of life. As a first-generation college student at Augusta University, I felt like I was learning a lot of things for the first time, balancing school, figuring out career goals, building confidence, and discovering who I wanted to become. I wanted to create a space that felt honest and relatable, so I started sharing pieces of my life online through vlogs, lifestyle content, and conversations about college.

Over time, that passion grew into something much bigger. I launched my college lifestyle platform, For The College Girl, which focuses on helping young women feel supported and inspired during their college years. Through my content, I share everything from everyday college life and personal growth to beauty, fashion, and career experiences. What began as a creative outlet quickly turned into an opportunity to build a community.

As my platform grew, I began working with brands in the beauty and lifestyle space, including companies like SheaMoisture, CeraVe, Maybelline, and NARS. Those experiences helped me realize that content creation and digital marketing were not just hobbies, they were career paths I genuinely loved. Alongside creating content, I’m currently studying psychology with a minor in business, which has also shaped how I approach storytelling, branding, and connecting with audiences.

Today, my journey continues to evolve as both a creator and a student. I’m passionate about using my platform to encourage other college students to pursue their goals, embrace their individuality, and realize that their path doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. For me, content creation has always been about more than posting online, it’s about building community, sharing real experiences, and showing that growth happens one step at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not. Like many creative journeys, mine has come with its fair share of challenges and moments of doubt.

When I first started creating content, I already had a strong interest in filming and editing, so the creative side came naturally to me. What was much harder was learning how to actually build an audience and get the kind of media attention that leads to brand deals, partnerships, and PR opportunities. That side of the industry was a completely new learning experience for me.

Social media can also make it very easy to compare yourself to other creators who seem to be growing faster or landing bigger opportunities. When you’re constantly seeing other people’s highlight reels, it can make you question whether your own work or creativity is really enough. There were definitely moments when I wondered if I was doing enough or if what I was creating was even making an impact.

As a creator, I think doubt is something many of us quietly deal with. There were times when I questioned whether my platform would ever grow into what I envisioned or if I would truly “make it.” Those thoughts can be discouraging, especially when you’re putting so much time and effort into something you care deeply about.

But over time, I’ve learned that growth in this space doesn’t always happen overnight. Every opportunity, every collaboration, and every new person who connects with my content reminds me why I started in the first place. Those challenges have pushed me to keep improving, stay authentic, and trust that my journey is unfolding in its own timing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a content creator, digital storyteller, and the founder of a college lifestyle platform called For The College Girl. My work focuses on documenting the college experience while encouraging young women to pursue their goals, build confidence, and embrace the process of figuring life out. Through my content, I share pieces of my everyday life as a college student—from mini vlogs and lifestyle content to beauty, fashion, and conversations about personal growth.

I specialize in lifestyle and college-focused content that feels authentic and relatable. A lot of my audience connects with the fact that I’m simply sharing my real experiences as I navigate college, leadership opportunities, internships, and the transition into adulthood. I think what people know me for most is my ability to romanticize everyday moments and turn them into stories that feel inspiring and comforting to others.

One thing I’m especially proud of is building my platform while also being deeply involved on campus and committed to my education. I’ve balanced content creation alongside leadership roles and academic goals. Being able to pursue both my creative passions and my education at the same time is something that means a lot to me.

What I believe sets me apart is that my platform is rooted in storytelling and community. I’m not just an influencer, ’m creating a space where college students, especially young women, can feel seen, encouraged, and inspired as they navigate this stage of life. My goal has always been to remind people that growth isn’t linear and that every step of the journey matters.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My biggest piece of advice is simple: don’t give up. Content creation can open a lot of doors and opportunities, but it’s important to understand that it’s not a “get rich quick” path. A lot of people see the highlight reel online and assume success happens overnight, but in reality it takes time, consistency, and real effort. You have to be intentional about what you create and why you’re creating it.

Another thing I wish I understood earlier is how easy it is to fall into the comparison trap. Social media constantly shows you other creators’ success, and if you’re not careful it can make you feel like you’re behind or that your work isn’t good enough. But everyone’s journey looks different. The moment you start focusing on someone else’s timeline instead of your own, you lose sight of your purpose.

I’ve learned that the only real competition you have is yourself. Focus on improving your craft, finding your voice, and staying true to what you want to create. Growth takes patience, and the people who succeed are usually the ones who stayed consistent even when things were slow.

If you believe in what you’re building, keep going. The journey may take longer than you expect, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth it.
