Meet Shara Harges of Phenomenal Moments LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shara Harges.

Hi Shara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Georgia peach through and through. Although my family moved throughout different parts of the state during my childhood, Georgia has always been home, and I eventually graduated from Starr’s Mill High School in Fayetteville. Interestingly, weddings were not something I grew up attending—children in my family typically were not invited—so my first experience attending one was at Château Élan shortly after my seventeenth birthday. That celebration left a lasting impression on me and quietly sparked an interest that would later grow into a career.

My early fascination with weddings was fueled by creativity and imagination. I spent hours exploring wedding inspiration on Pinterest, captivated by the artistry of planners and designers and how each celebration could tell a completely different story. I was especially drawn to the Disney Wedding Dress Collection inspired by the Disney princesses. Like many young girls, I once imagined my own wedding with the full Cinderella treatment—a horse-drawn carriage and the iconic Cinderella ballgown.

Before launching my business, I was inspired by the idea of becoming a wedding planner with Disney, helping bring those magical experiences to life for couples. Yet even before that dream formed, I had always answered one question the same way: whenever adults asked what I wanted to be when I grew up, my response was simple—I wanted to be a business owner.

In 2020, I met my husband during Passion City Church’s New Year’s celebration at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. At the time, we were both working with Chick-fil-A and assisting with operations at the stadium during the conference. That season of life became one of growth and transformation, both personally and professionally.

Two of the most defining influences on my life and sense of style have been my grandmothers. Each carried herself with remarkable elegance, grace, and class—qualities that continue to inspire the way I approach both life and business today. Their influence is woven into the very structure of my company. My full-service planning package is named after my grandmother Jacquelyn, who believed in white-glove service and always entrusted life’s most important moments to the very best professionals. My partial planning package is named after my grandmother Marjorie, who valued doing things her way but welcomed thoughtful assistance along the way.

I later earned my bachelor’s degree in Hospitality from Georgia State University, a foundation that prepared me to pursue my passion for events and celebrations. In 2022, I launched Phenomenal Moments, a wedding planning and design company built on the belief that every couple deserves a celebration that reflects their story with intention, elegance, and care.

Today, I have the privilege of helping couples create meaningful, unforgettable weddings—moments that become cherished memories for a lifetime.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Some of the biggest obstacles I’ve faced have been personal ones. Growing up, I experienced bullying from elementary school through high school, along with the loss of close loved ones at a young age. Those experiences deeply impacted me and changed the way I viewed life during those years. For a time, I found myself moving through life differently than before, trying to process those challenges while still figuring out who I was becoming.

The turning point came during the COVID-19 pandemic. That season forced many of us to slow down, and for me it became a time of reflection, faith, and personal growth. Being home with my parents allowed me to rebuild a strong spiritual and emotional foundation, and through that journey I began to rediscover my sense of direction.

In 2020, during that season of growth, I met my husband. As my life continued to evolve, I felt inspired to step into entrepreneurship and launched Phenomenal Moments in 2022. The following year, we welcomed our daughter in 2023, which added even greater purpose to everything I was building.

While these experiences are personal, they played a meaningful role in shaping my mindset as an entrepreneur. What began as a journey of personal growth ultimately evolved into a business centered on creating meaningful, unforgettable moments for others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Phenomenal Moments LLC?
Phenomenal Moments was inspired by my late grandmother, who used to call me her “Phenomenal Woman,” referencing Maya Angelou’s powerful poem. That nickname stayed with me and eventually became the heart behind my business name.

What began as a passion has grown steadily over the years. I started by offering wedding coordination services, and over time expanded into planning and designing weddings for couples who want their celebrations to feel intentional and memorable. My love for weddings actually started years ago when I first discovered Pinterest. I was fascinated by how wedding styles and trends evolved and by the creativity of planners and designers bringing unique visions to life.

The first wedding I ever coordinated was in Savannah, Georgia, and it remains incredibly special to me. It was a beautiful celebration, but more importantly, it was the moment when my business truly felt real. That experience confirmed that this was the path I was meant to pursue.

What sets me apart as a planner is my commitment to educating my couples throughout the planning process. The wedding industry can be overwhelming, and I believe couples deserve to understand the decisions they’re making. Every wedding is unique, and I approach each celebration with the mindset that it should never feel like something copied and pasted. My goal is always to help couples create a wedding that genuinely reflects their story.
