Rising Stars: Meet Felicia Vereen of Snellville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Vereen.

Felicia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hello everyone!! I am Felicia J. Vereen and I was born in Cordele, Georgia, and raised in the small town of Buena Vista. From a young age, I realized how powerful it can be when someone believes in you, offers guidance, or simply gives a second chance. That realization sparked a passion in me for advocacy using my voice and my actions to lift others up, especially those who may feel overlooked or underestimated. As a single mother, I’ve learned firsthand what it means to balance multiple roles. raising my children, pursuing higher education, serving my community, and fulfilling my responsibilities as a titleholder. Each role has strengthened my discipline, resilience, and sense of purpose, and has taught me that leadership isn’t just about titles it’s about showing up, making an impact, and inspiring others along the way. That passion for lifting others led me to create my platform, “From Prison to Purpose: Reducing Recidivism.” Through this initiative, I focus on mentorship, second-chance advocacy, and creating opportunities for individuals reentering society, helping them rebuild their lives and realize their potential. My goal is to show that transformation is possible when someone believes in you and provides the tools and support to succeed.
Today, I am honored to serve as the reigning Ms. Full-Figured Georgia Queen 2024, and in April, I’ll proudly represent Georgia on the national stage. Through my platform and my story, I strive to inspire confidence, promote purpose, and remind others that our greatest impact comes when we help others rise along with us. In May, I will be awarding the Purpose to Promise Scholarship at my alma mater to a student pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. This scholarship is designed to empower students, help them embrace their purpose, and provide opportunities to impact others and change lives.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. One of my biggest challenges has been balancing the many roles I carry every day. As a single mother, my children are my priority, and raising them while pursuing higher education, serving my community, and fulfilling my responsibilities as a titleholder requires constant focus and dedication. There are moments when the demands of motherhood, school, community work, and my title all compete for my time. It takes organization, sacrifice, and a strong support system to keep everything moving forward. Even on the busiest days, I remain committed to giving my best in every area of my life. Those experiences have strengthened my work ethic and reminded me why perseverance matters. Everything I do is about creating a better future for my children while continuing to positively impact the people and communities around me.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a strong background in childcare and early childhood development, which has been both a passion and a profession for me. Over the years, I’ve worked closely with children of all ages, helping to create safe, nurturing, and educational environments where they can thrive. My experience has taught me the importance of patience, understanding, and individualized attention skills that I carry with me into every area of my life, including mentorship and advocacy.
Through my work in childcare, I specialize in guiding children not just academically, but emotionally and socially, helping them build confidence, self-esteem, and life skills that set a strong foundation for the future. I’m known for my hands-on approach, creating meaningful connections, and fostering growth in every child I serve. What sets me apart is my ability to balance professional expertise with genuine care and dedication. My background in childcare, combined with my advocacy work and community involvement, allows me to connect with families and individuals in a way that is both practical and deeply personal. I take pride in being someone who can uplift, guide, and inspire others whether it’s a child, a family, or an adult seeking a second chance.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my family, my faith, and the growth that comes from life’s lessons. One thing I’ve learned along my journey is that sometimes the people you expect to support you the most may not always be the ones cheering you on. That realization can be difficult, but it also teaches you a lot about strength, independence, and believing in yourself even when others may not see your vision. I’ve learned that support doesn’t always come from the places you expect. Sometimes it comes from people who simply see your passion and want to see you succeed. Those experiences helped me develop a deeper sense of confidence and faith in my own path. At the end of the day, what matters most is staying true to who I am, continuing to grow, and setting an example for my children. I want them to see that even when the journey gets tough or support feels limited, you can still move forward with purpose, determination, and grace.
