Rising Stars: Meet Johnny Apollo of Sw Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Johnny Apollo.

Hi Johnny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m an artist from Atlanta who has always been drawn to music as a way to express emotion and energy that’s hard to put into words. I started out experimenting with guitar and beat-making as a 21yr old, eventually developing my voice as a vocalist, songwriter, and producer. Early on I was inspired by the idea that music could blend genres and create entire worlds, not just songs. Over time I committed myself to the craft. I started writing, producing, performing, and constantly refining my sound. That dedication led to opportunities like working with legendary producer Dallas Austin and becoming part of the Rowdy Records family. Those experiences helped me grow not just as an artist but as a creative thinker. Today my focus is continuing to build the Johnny Apollo universe; music that sits at the intersection of hard-edged rock energy, alternative sounds, and experimental hip-hop. Whether it’s in the studio or on stage, my goal is always the same: to create something powerful, authentic, and memorable for the people who connect with my music.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. I’ve had to learn some tough lessons along the way, especially about patience, resilience, and who to trust. The music industry can be unpredictable, and there were times earlier in my journey when I ran into situations where people didn’t always have the same integrity or long term vision that I did. There have also been periods where I had to step back, reset, and refocus on my own growth, both creatively and personally. Those moments taught me the importance of discipline, self-awareness, and protecting my energy. Looking back, those challenges ended up shaping me in a positive way. They forced me to become more intentional about the people I work with and the path I’m building. Now I approach everything with a clearer sense of purpose and a stronger foundation. I’m actually grateful for every experience because I learn something from all of them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a recording artist, songwriter, and producer, and my work sits at the intersection of a few different worlds; rock energy, alternative, and experimental/melodic rap. I’ve always been drawn to pushing boundaries creatively, so a lot of what I do is about blending genres and building a sound that feels unique and emotionally powerful. One thing I really specialize in is creating crazy lit energy live shows. When I’m on stage, I want people to feel transcendence mixed with chaos & stillness at moments. That connection between my music and the crowd is one of the most exciting parts of being an artist to me. What I’m most proud of is staying committed to my vision over the years and continuing to evolve creatively. The industry can try to put artists in boxes, but I’ve always believed in exploring new sounds and ideas without losing my identity. I think what sets me apart is that balance between intensity and depth music that can hit hard and energize a room, but also carry emotion, atmosphere, and meaning.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Being an artist inherently comes with taking risks. It’s part of what makes it exciting to me. I don’t think it’s possible to make it to any substantial level without taking risks. I’ve taken plenty of risks, sometimes going to different places when you don’t know fully whether it’s gonna be beneficial or not. Taking risks working with different people. Or heading out of state to collab or do shows/work with people. All of that involves risks, sometimes it plays out great, sometimes not, but you gotta at least see. Good thing about taking risks is it develops a better sense of discernment over time.
