Today we’d like to introduce you to Erik Satterfield.
Erik, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Well, it started when I was young I was blessed with creativity and a mechanical ability that was passed down from both sides of my family . This had led me down many paths in life.
As I think back I can remember I always had an interest in haircutting but never really crossed my mind to make it a career until I had my daughters.
I am a very involved dad and having to style and cut their hair all the time which I realized hey I really enjoy doing this craft and I’m not too bad at it so I decided to make it a career.
It has now lead me down other paths like makeup and special effects . I now work as a personal stylist ,celebrity stylist and makeup artist in the television and film industry.
But I still take the time to see local clientele it’s the one on one relationships that you develop with the general public that makes rewarding.
Has it been a smooth road?
Not been a smooth road my life I have had many struggles from very early on in life From my parent’s divorce. To my abuse of alcohol to self-medicate from panic attracts and anxiety which I overcame . Then, later on, I was hospitalized for a back injury and had to have surgery. I was told to file for disabilities but I refused . And kept pushing forward.
What’s your outlook for the industry over the next 5-10 years?
I see the industry continuing to grow especially with the tv and film industry booming in the state of Georgia.
What would you say has been the biggest challenge for you over the course of your career?
The biggest challenge has been finding work in the film and tv industry which right now they are hiring most of their crew out of LA can explain in more detail if you want.
