Today we’d like to introduce you to Mital and Ankit Patel.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
At 6 years old, I received my first pair of glasses. This was a magical moment where the world became clearer. It left such a significant imprint on me, and so I wanted to help others experience this same kind of moment. After optometry school, I worked in corporate offices and I quickly realized the fast paced, back-to-back schedule was not a good fit for me. I didn’t have time to connect with the patients or hear about their problems and concerns. It was just a conveyor belt of appointments. What was once my passion and purpose was now keeping me up at night; wondering if I missed something important with any of my patients. Optometry and medicine shouldn’t be about quotas and numbers. Vision is something that can have a huge impact on a person’s life and experience.
With Ankit’s (my husband) help, I finally pursued my very own private practice in 2012. This was my chance to practice the way that I wanted; giving a patient my undivided attention, actively listening to them and feeling good about what I do. It has been an eye opening experience (pun intended) to say the least. Ankit’s background in process improvement, organizational development, and business strategy along with my knowledge in the optometry field, we have been able to create something very unique. We have currently grown to 4 locations in Marietta, Kennesaw, and Vinings. I value the time I am able to spend with each patient getting to know them. The most rewarding thing is to see them return each year and discuss updates in their lives. The relationships I have created with my patients will have an impact on me forever. Our motto is, “loving people for who they are and help guide them to clarity.”
Has it been a smooth road?
It is difficult when you try to create something new in the industry, trying to set us apart from others. Most places just focus on getting people in and out, where we focus on the needs of the patient despite how many they have. It is hard to find the right staff that also understands our vision, especially ones who have experience in the eye industry. Every bump in the road has been a struggle and a learning experience that has allowed us to become better and stronger! Having Ankit on the business side and myself on the health care side, has given us a special opportunity to grow in various aspects.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Classic Vision Care – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
We are your first go to option for anything eye related from diseases, designer eyewear, specialty contacts, and dry eyes. – Especially since dry eyes are becoming more common due to Computer Vision Syndrome, which is the result of people spending hours a day in front of screens. We focus on making you look good and see well!
Since we are a local company we want to help people in our local communities. We partner with Must Ministries to provide eye care, frames, and prescription glasses to folks who are in need. We take old frames as donations, and we reuse them for the Must Ministries program! We give our patients $50 towards a new pair of prescription frames and lenses when they donate their used frames.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We like that Atlanta is a melting pot for culture! There are people from all types of backgrounds, which mean that there is always a new restaurant to try! The least favorite thing about Atlanta is definitely the traffic, but that can be blamed on the fact that it is a great city to live in, and people are constantly relocating here!
