Thanks for sharing your story with us Laura. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Got my masters while going up the corporate ladder, when I got passed up for a promotion that I felt I deserved. I decided to try something new and go into business for myself. I started as a paint company and gradually added services until we became a one-stop shop remodeling company.
Many of our customers loved our work and wanted work done at their offices and business, So I decided to study and get my license as a Licensed residential and light commercial contractor. So now we mainly focus on larger projects such as Basement finishing, kitchen and bath remodeling, entire house remodels and commercial remodeling.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Going into business for yourself is harder than you would normally think, there is no punching out on a time clock and being done. You do not have the option to fail when you see how many families you are supporting with the work. It is also surprised at how many people will take advantage of you if you allow them to. But it is also very rewarding when you see your business succeed and you see the people who are willing to work harder by your side when times are tough.
Green Basements & Remodeling – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Where we differ from our competition is, first of all, we are an all-inclusive company, meaning you choose your finishings within our showroom, we design your project, schedule the job, warehouse materials and handle the entire process.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I think the key to my success is I don’t take no for an answer, I jump through hoops to make things happen, and most of all being a hard worker. If you are a hard worker you will be successful no matter what you can do.
