When I was younger I wanted to draw but never felt like I could get the technical aspects right. Then I wanted to paint, but as you know, you kind of have to be able to draw to do that. Yet some part of me always wanted to be an artist. Then I discovered photography. And when I realized I could turn people into art through pictures a whole new world of expression opened up for me. 20yrs ago I was assaulted and stabbed in my right eye, which led to my obesity where I ended up weighing over 630lbs. Over the next 15yrs, I was able to lose over 350lbs plus pounds thru exercise and changing my lifestyle. I lost so much weight that I had to deal with lots of excess skin for several years, later on, I would then be featured on an episode of Atlanta Plastic Season 2 and was able to share my story and hopefully motivate others. This is one of my favorite stories to tell! I designed my first logo when I was 12 years old in Microsoft Paint. My mom was a stay-at-home at the time and often picked up odd jobs online to make some extra money for the family. One of her friends asked her if she could create a logo for an annual fundraiser benefiting the local soup kitchen. I watched my mom get frustrated trying to work Adobe Photoshop and I asked if I could give it a try. She let me take over the computer for a few hours. Read More>>

I’ve always had a camera in my hand since the time I was little. My first camera was a blue Fisher-Price film camera for kids. I was always the one snapping photos of my friends and I still have a ton of old photos from disposable cameras of the past at my parents’ house. I can still remember my first digital camera. It was, ironically, blue also and the quality of the photos it produced would probably be laughable today. Once I got a full-time job as an adult, I bought my first DSLR and started to get serious about learning photography and bettering my craft. I started my business about a month ago and I’m just focusing on turning my passion into my purpose, day by day. Read More>>

As a child, I was always interested in hair. I believe I played with dolls until my teens so I could do different styles to their hair. At the age of 14 is when I began styling my friends and classmates hair. I got pretty good at it and began charging them $10. Read More>>

In 2007 in preparation for a holiday party, I decided to add some color to my face for the very first time. I didn’t own any makeup at all. All I wore was shiny lip gloss. So, I went through my grandmother’s makeup bag and found a bright magenta blush. I decided to use it as an eyeshadow. After receiving lots of compliments at the party, I thought that it was something that I was good at. So, I bought eyeshadow palettes here and there and kept practicing. Youtube became my best friend. Fast forward 9 years later, here I am a self-taught freelance makeup artist in Atlanta. I had not realized that its been 9 years until now. Wow! Read More>>

Hey, Thanks for allowing me to chat about this! I started doing some really cruddy motion design when I was at Lassiter High School in Marietta. I learned how to make zombie heads explode and bevel 3D text thanks to Andrew Kramer and video copilot. I loved film, editing and shooting stupid movies with my buddies, so I decided to go to the University of South Carolina and study Media Arts. I was fortunate enough to graduate college in 3 and a half years and get a job working in Druid Hills for Crawford Media Services. You may know them from the dailies work they did on The Walking Dead and Vampire Diaries. I currently serve as the Lead Motion Designer at North Point Church in Alpharetta and have my own business, Fort-Studios.com. Read More>>
