Meet Keith Roberson of Fresh Heir Life in East Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keith Roberson.

Keith, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We started off as a two-man company trying to figure out how to help out our creative friends; our friends with something to say. We didn’t have any money to do so, but we wanted to help. We decided to create caps and shirts – Christian paraphernalia that would encourage and empower believers, all while helping us to embark on something bigger. We called the brand “Fresh Heir”. “Fresh” meaning something new and innovative. “Heir”, reminding us of who we believe ourselves to be; children of God. The two-man crew turned into three and we began selling our product quickly. However, just as quickly as we sold the merchandise, we lost sight of the original goal

I left my job as a content creator at a branding agency in Atlanta and went into work for myself. I knew I had to hit the ground running. I didn’t want to start another business when I was still working on the first. I had to somehow incorporate my skills as an audio/visual creator to the needs of my business. I had a small following as a podcaster a year prior and felt like that was low hanging fruit to do more of what we were already doing (we were also blogging). I revamped my podcast, produced 4 more (to date), became a freelance videographer/photographer under the same name and the new look Fresh Heir Life, LLC was back up and running.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been anything but a smooth road. Ultimately, the two business partners that I started out with, parted ways with the company. They were the ones with knowledge and Intel. I was creative. It’s just me right now, so I have to learn what they already knew…and a lot of times, learn it the hard way. We’re still friends, but as seasons change, so do people. That was another thing that I had to come to grips with; that to some, it may be a hobby or an investment, but this is my livelihood and I cannot afford for it to fail. I think that’s the point I needed to get to insure that it doesn’t.

Fresh Heir Life – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Fresh Heir offers videography, photography and audio solutions/services at an affordable price. We love to help the (seemingly) common man get his/her vision off the ground in lieu of helping to create a better society. We also provide weekly podcast programming to help you get through the week.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success for Fresh Heir would mean having our name synonymous with professionalism, creativity and a faith-based boldness. Above all else, the main thing is still the main thing in that I want to provide a platform for people with a voice, but lack a soapbox to say it on. Fresh Heir is about providing that soapbox. I want it to transcend a blog, a shirt, a podcast, music. I want it to penetrate the heart and mind and ultimately the soul of a person.
