Meet Anna and Sean Daily of Rootstock & Vine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna and Sean Daily.

Anna and Sean, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
We are a one year young Wine and Tapas bar. The building is a historical site dating back to 1908, originally housing the Woodstock post office. in 2017, we renovated the building to expose original brick walls and rustic wood. The expansion included a second level, which features a rooftop bar, offering 360′ views of our hometown.

Our focus is offering wines produced by small, family-owned vineyards around the world, Wines are hand selected from low production batches, by our on-staff sommelier and wine director. Our food options compliment our wine selection, creating a specialized and educational dining experience. Our wine director and chef work closely to constantly offer new and exciting pairings. We offer monthly wine pairing dinners featuring a special guest who represents the wine we are tasting. These are intimate events, created to heighten the experience and level of wine and food education to our guests.

Sean and I are local to Woodstock since 1998 and love our community. We developed a passion for wine in recent years and it led to developing the Wine bar concept in our hometown. We are invested in our community and strive to constantly give back and support the healthy economic growth that is here in Woodstock. We are familiar with running businesses in other industries and in the last year, since opening Rootstock and vine, have fallen n love with the hospitality and service industry.

We pride ourselves on excellent guest services, a friendly and relaxing environment, a talented, well-trained team to deliver the experience and most of all connecting with our city in such a meaningful way. We are not just providing a dining experience, we are meeting and getting to know our neighbors! Most evenings, you will see Sean and I on site, visiting tables, running food or admiring the service staff always delivering the best they can offer. Generally, we are there soaking in our love for the place we call our second home!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
We are approaching our one year anniversary 9/28. It has been an incredible journey of growth and learning! Some major learning curves definitely included a need for a smooth flow of service plan and creating the team who understood and aligned themselves with our vision.

We received an enormous welcome from the community upon opening and were also blessed with honest feedback that showed some weak spots. We have taken our guests feedback and made adjustments where possible.

The road is now smoother with clear views of Rootstock and Vine’s future!

Please tell us about Rootstock & Vine.
We are also equipped with an experienced team to host special events at our venue. From corporate luncheons to wedding rehearsal dinners Networking events to bridal showers, birthday parties, anniversary celebrations and more.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Listen to your gut, it’s usually right, especially when it comes to people. If something doesn’t feel right, there’s a reason for that. Be sure the people that you associate with your brand are the people who understand your vision and will steer you in the right direction. Secondly, stay true to your vision and don’t lose sight of your plan by trying to please all people
