Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Vondell.
Cody, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I’m a multimedia designer and musician from the New River Valley of Virginia. I relocated to Atlanta in 2013 after earning my degree in graphic design. I’ve been lucky enough to work on a variety of projects including music, games, film, television, merchandise, and live performances.
Has it been a smooth road?
Every day I have to remind myself that I am still on that creative journey, and though it has its ups and downs I need to stay positive and thankful for the opportunities I have. I’m very thankful for a supportive family, friends, and community of other artists and designers I’ve met along the way.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Many people already find music, clothing, or products specifically for their style online. Meanwhile many artists and musicians are producing and distributing their work independently online. I think this trend will continue to grow over the next few years.
What has been the primary challenge you’ve faced?
Staying technically current with the medium while simultaneously working with new trends in the field can be a constant challenge, but it’s a rewarding feeling to learn new techniques in your favorite programs.
Let’s change gears – is there any advice you’d like to give?
Stay productive. Set aside time daily to work on your craft. Learn new techniques frequently. Brand yourself and create an online presence. Be active in your local art/music community. Network and collaborate with other like-minded people. Have fun!
