Conversations with the Inspiring Tinisha Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tinisha Jones.

Tinisha, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Yes, well, I’m 20 yrs. old, I was born and raised here in Miami, FL. I’ve always had a big passion for writing and inspiring others which led to me getting a Gold medal for 1st place in my 6th grade for the writing test that we had taken! Language arts had always been one of my favorite subjects because I had a way with words and loved how others could express themselves through them. My passion ran so deep that when I finished high school in 2016, I decided to get into blogging I was totally lost on the aspect of it and I searched around to find every bit of information I could about it and I was referred by a great friend to check out blogger.com. I spent about a year in there and my life got hectic, so I decided to take a hiatus from it and just focus on really finding myself and what exactly I wanted to do because I just felt lost. None of my peers had the mindset I had, they were always focused on things that didn’t matter and wouldn’t benefit them in the long run. Over time, the adversities I began to face turned into one of my greatest strengths and victories. I traded my comparison game and excuses over for the ball of actual execution. I’m a creative overall and I’m talented and many things I’d always tell my sis what I wanted to do until one day she said “you have so many great ideas, the only thing is you need to act on them.”

At first, I was a little brushed but at the same time, it was an eye-opener like hey if you take this seriously make something out of it. So, yes, I said that’s it I’m going to launch my brand and site IAmChic Inspires with the CHIC standing for an acronym. (Confident, Hardworking, Intelligent, & Courageous). The site has promotion and financial tips for those struggling in the areas finance, transparency a platform for those to share some of their deepest testimonies, Women Empowerment, and recipes and ratings of different foods all across the world, and last we cover interviews with artist, dancers, and models in the industry… “Fondest Moments With” where you’ll get to see your favorite person in the industry outside the limelight just being a calm relaxed human being. Sometimes, people forget that “celebs” are humans that’s why that section is dedicated to them!

Has it been a smooth road?
The journey has been everything but smooth and I think that’s what makes this so enjoyable. I don’t think I’d appreciate all the blessings God has lined up for me and made happen already If it had been a smooth ride. It’s been bumpy for sure and still is today I just try to find the light through the cracks. My family and I have been displaced since last year around the storm Irma we had here in Florida, I’ve even lost my job. Some days have been a guess not knowing if we’d make it financially out my faith and prayer has always been and will continue to be the biggest part of myself. Advice for young women who are starting their journey I would say to keep pushing and going no matter what deck of cards life hands you play it smart. When you think you’re at your lowest breaking point and you can’t go on anymore you can! Remember that weeping may endure for a night but JOY always comes in the morning, God and hope is all you have at the end of the day so lean to him and not your own understanding. It may not make sense in the beginning but your darkest moments create the most powerful people. And always, always, always BE THE LIGHT IN A DARK SITUATION!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into IAmChic Inspires story. Tell us more about the business.
I’m an inspirational blogger. I specialize in inspiring women to continue to pursue their dreams no matter what adversities they’ve faced or continue to face because you can do anything you set out to do. I believe what I’m most proud of as a brand is my team god has helped me build. They’re like a family to me that’s how I’m able to succeed obviously there’s someone who started it all which is myself but the team of writers that I’ve chosen Jessita (London based), Diahni (ATL, GA baed), Vianka (NC), Aaliyah (NYC), and Zykia (VA) are the best decision that I could’ve made. I think my ability to create and form not only partnerships but build a team who can not only be apart but be willing to grow friendships and a family out of this sets me apart from others. There’s no greed in this I want to see my whole team win!

Do you have any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general? What has worked well for you?
Collab, collab, collab! Find someone that you’d like to work alongside, make sure if you want them to mentor you actually have something that you’ve already started even if it’s just a sheet of paper with some goals written in black and white! It’s a start and it shows people that you’re serious make them feel their time is valued and that you can offer them something as well. Whether looking for a mentor or networking, be consistent and committed, don’t ask someone to mentor you if you’re not serious and will leave after the first convo, it’ll just build a bad rapport.
