Today we’d like to introduce you to Malikah Harris.
Malikah, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In the year 2006, while driving to work on highway 429 in Orlando, Florida. God had spoken to me as clear as the day I was living. He said he wanted me to write a Broadway Musical entitled Blood Sisters. He also adds that he wanted me to write a spin-off novel entitled Generational Curses. Knowing that I felt I could not execute the project alone, I asked for him to provide a team to work with. He provided the team I got right to work. We worked on the script of the musical timelessly. Writing the original material including lyrics and music for the songs was a very tired yet exhilarating feeling.
After collaborating with our talented musical engineers, we then started to put the music up on its feet. In Orlando, Florida every year The Orlando Fringe Festival encompasses roughly 500 uncensored and non-juried performances each year, However not all can attend as they have over hundreds even thousands wanting to perform. There is a lottery that is given to the candidates that would like to be considered. After winning the lottery in 2012 we got to work on looking for a director and casting for the show.
Landing the job for direction on staging and choreography was Broadway’s own Marion J. Caffey. The cast considered of 6 of the most talented female singers that did an amazing job representing their characters. There was also had a gentleman that was the narrator between songs to keep the show moving. In the month of May 2012, we had 5 sold out shows that always had a standing ovation at the end. For the rest of 2012, we continued our hit musical journey as we were asked to perform at: The Parliament House Foot Lights Theater for 3 consecutive Saturdays. Opening Act for recording artist KEM at the Democratic National Convention Concert, and my novel Generational Curses book signing.
As the show was being performed the writing was also going through the developing stages. By March 2017 even though my book was out on Kindle only. I wanted it to be on paperback as well. So knowing that it was still ruff I now needed real editing to take over. I searched on line for an editor and came across a woman by the name of Patricia Concodora. I believe that God sent her to me in perfect timing, as I needed the paperback to be out before my book signing date. On April 27, 2017, my novel was available on paperback (YEAH)! And it was perfectly corrected thanks to Patricia and her amazing work ethics. She is the real deal!

Our first project Prison Rebirth has been on going since 2017. This special event is dedicated towards healing and helping the inmates from the prison system. Mother Earth Productions LLC does a presentation in the prisons and detention centers around the local communities. This presentation consists of showcasing our show Blood Sisters the Musical and distributing my novel Generational Curses to the inmates for free. Afterwards, we have a discussion on the topics that keep the bound and try to heal their way of coping. This event has been very successful within the community as inmates are looking for more. Our goal is to get into every prison and detention center in the world!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been very challenging, to say the least. But I enjoy a good challenge it makes me work smarter. One of the biggest challenges was losing people after their jobs were finished. For me as a business woman I enjoy the relationships that I make while working with individuals, however during collaborations sometimes the relationships fall short and the work suffers. Needless to say, I believe God places people in your path to do a job, and once it’s complete they and you move on to do another job.
The other challenge for me at this time is financial assistance. As I enjoy and love what I do, it is and will continue to be a costly task. Especially for one person’s pocket. Finding people who will invest or become sponsors of these life changing events are far too few. But I know they are out there and one or another if it’s through my pocket or a helping hand I will continue the journey.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Mother Earth Productions LLC is a unified leadership towards one meaning man or woman that directs community on the land we live. That is our mission in life to help when help is needed and to give back all the time.
I’m the Founder/CEO of this company. At this time, I’m actually a one woman business, I do it all. Unless I need help with some events which at that time I do a work for hire. I’m known to do all the promoting, contacting, setting up, presenting, panel discussions, breaking down/cleanup… etc.
I am most proud of the healing process that is taking place with people that sees the show or read the novel.
I not sure if I can categorize myself as head of the class. All I know is that we all are in this class together doing something to help. That to me is LIVING LIFE!
What were you like growing up?
The crazy thing is when I was a baby the doctor told my mother that I would never talk or walk. I was supposed to have been a vegetable, I guess God had other plans. Growing up in Newark, New Jersey I was a lot like I am today. Always thinking of ideas I was a writer even back then. Coming up with stories and writing five-part harmony songs for my girls singing group.
I enjoyed school, especially in English, Music, and Art classes. Oh yeah, can’t forget about lunch… it was like the movie Fame! LOL!
I was definitely an extrovert!
