Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanna Williams.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
Since I remember I was always fascinated with photography and was taking a lot of photos. People use to tell me “you really have a good eye”. Since my background is in science I never really had much time to practice photography. But when my daughter was born I knew right away that the camera will become my best friend – and it did. I started to be obsessed with capturing memories. Friends started to really appreciate my work and started to ask me if I can take photos of their kids and families. And after a while decided to open my own small photography business.
Please tell us about your art.
My goal is to capture and share the everyday truly miraculous moments surrounding us all the time. I love taking photos of really everything people, nature, animals… etc. I always look for the simple “unseen moments”.
I would call my artwork to be simple and raw. I want my photos to tell you a story without words. I believe beauty is in everything you just have to look around and capture it.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
No, I actually don’t. I believe the roll of the artist is always been the same – to create and inspire others. They don’t affect my photography I just capture them 🙂
