Meet C Flux (Craig Flux) Sing (Sing) of C Flux Sing

Today we’d like to introduce you to C Flux (Craig Flux) Sing (Sing).

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
It was a hot summer night in New York City. The year 1976. July 1st at 10:20 pm is when lightning struck at the Harlem Hospital and my mother gave birth to a son. I come out behind first and ever since I was a pain in the ass. HAAA! Something like that.

Nah I was born in the same place but was taken home to Laurelton Queens where I grew up. The last of 3 children from my parents. I started drawing around 3 or 4 years old and always inspired by my brother illustrated. I just took it further. Other influences were comic books, comic strips, cartoons, graffiti and ninjas.

I continued up into attending the High School of Art and Design. Graduated and made my way to The Art Institute of Atlanta. Then American Intercontinental University where I graduated with a bachelors in Visual Communications. Have been expanding as an artist here in Atlanta ever since. Oh, I was rapping too!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Hell nah, it hasn’t been smooth! HA HA. Yet, I haven’t had the worse type of turmoil as others. Most of my struggles would come from a lack of direction. Not able to land certain jobs. Learning my value and recognizing my strengths and being comfortable with it.

Times of being on the verge of quitting because I didn’t realize how therapeutic and important it was for me to express my own art as opposed to just creating for clients. Creating my style and techniques over the years.

Also, Culminating a lot of what I do into one brand and building it. I’m still building it. Outside of that, I have been blessed to have been working all these years.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about C Flux SIng – what should we know?
My business/company is C Flux Sing. Short for Craig Flux SIngleton. Although I am a Graphic Designer, Illustrator, and Painter. I specialize in Graphic Design and Illustration Mostly. Painting is becoming a big part when it comes to creating walls and murals. A have always had two separate groups of supporters. Some know me for Design and Illustration. Some know me for Music.

I’m most proud of being able to use my craft to make a living. Also, I’m proud to be able to have continued growth with it. Being open to new opportunities and such.

What sets me apart is my style, technique and perspective. My vulnerability at times and how I fuse ideas and concepts together. My Linework and flow which delivers a smooth, emotional and exaggerated energy. Hyper expressive if you will. HAAAA!

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
Man, I’m thankful for so many influences. 1.) My mother and father for allowing me to explore my arts. It was because of my mother that I applied to The H.S of Art & Design and the reason I took Advertising. My Blood Brother William Singleton Jr. for influencing me since young. He may say he had little to do with it but he left the bread crumbs for me. Family of course. Too many supporters to name honestly. I always give love to my brother Jax (Chris Jax Thurston), Mrs. Thurston(Jax Moms) and Miya Bailey for helping me to realize my own greatness. My brother Goldi Gold and Mr.

Soul for pushing, clowning on and challenging me. My brothers Najee (Killa KAlm) and Tuki for giving me a place to live during my college days and much-needed conversations. Binkis Recs Family( Spice, Lisa, Mafioso, A.O.S.). OG’s and peers like Dante Yarbrough, Alfred Conte, Wak, Dawud Anyabwile(BrotherMan Comics), H2O and Cognito and Tone(Mass Influence), Hebrew Brantley, Bobby Fuse Green, Fahamu Pecou, Gilbert Young that are always sharing knowledge, wisdom and understanding whenever speaking with them. Art, Beats and Lyrics (Dubelyoo and Jabari) for giving #3TheHardWay a space to kill shit for the last 10 years. Ifa and my Babalawos and Iyanifa for love, teachings and spiritual guidance.

I give love to my friends and clients who constantly spread my name in goodness: Rasta Root, Jay Forcea and the crew, The Good Hair Shop, Phyllis Iller(Melissa Alexander), Ale Sharpton, Eric 9ine, Mike Moore, Tree Haus Atl(Ash), Nomadic Nation(Ashlee), Working Class Music Group, Urban Ellegance, Lex Boogie, PNB Nation(Brue, Zulu, Shara, Blustone, West), Frank 151, Smokin’ Needles, Rolling Out… man I can go on but these people and more continue to influence me and deserve credit just from being genuine with advice, honesty, friendship, vision and opportunity. They take the role of all of those titles you mention above in some way or another and inspires me to excel.
