Art & Life with Sharica Brooks

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharica Brooks.

Sharica, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
During my senior year of high school, I was secretly accepted in SCAD for Fashion Design/Merchandising but could not afford the cost of tuition. So then I decided to go to a private college that offered me a scholarship for basketball and slowly put fashion behind me. Fast forward two years I transferred to Georgia State University where it’s like walking a runway simply just going to class. GSU was where I began to really pay attention to the fashion culture around me. But I was deeply into visual arts as well, so in 2017 I took a position as the assistant to a fashion designer.

Throughout 2017 & 2018 I traveled the U.S checking out Art museums, fashion shows, and art shows to get an understanding of the art culture in general. Slowly I started to develop relationships with the artist I would meet at shows until it dawned on me that they are missing one key piece to the puzzle.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am an Art Marketer and manager! I create art through marketing other artists. Unfamiliar with marketing and advertising I took a leap of faith. So I started Brooks Creative Group, LLC which a new millennial creative marketing agency with focus on the art industry. My job is to promote, advertise, manage and sell art for artists while they focus solely on their craft! And when I say art, I am open to all mediums! I started this company to give creatives different channels to reach new or existing customers and to increase their monetary stance.

Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
Work very hard and be confident in your work and vision. One thing I wish someone told me in advance is make a sacrifice now that way when you are pursuing your dreams that’s one less obstacle to face.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
You can view my work and artist I’ve worked with on my YouTube page, Instagram and or Facebook!
