Meet Trailblazer Tonya Oxendine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tonya Oxendine.

Tonya, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
Grew up poor in St. Augustine, FL, not extremely poor. Thank God, but, we were far from rich.

We lived in an old blue wooden house, on a dirt road with no street lights. Sometimes my mom didn’t have the money, and our electricity would be cut off, and we would have to run an extension cord from our cousin’s house to our house so we could have lights.

It was just the 3 of us; my mom was a single parent of me and my brother. We were on food stamps and welfare, and we kept a bucket under our kitchen sink because there were no plumbing pipes under the sink; we’d stuff a cloth in the sink to hold the water in while washing dishes then dump the bucket of water out the back door.

I tell this story because it’s a part of me and I AM not ashamed. I was able to serve my country for nearly 30 years, reach the highest level of promotion in my field and most importantly I was honored to take care of America’s sons and daughters. I am an entrepreneur, CEO of a commercial cleaning company along with my business partner Bridgette Deale. Currently, I am doing what I hope is Gods will and that’s sharing my voice to better others’ Quality of Life. I am evidence that your past does not determine your future and I am GRATEFUL every day for my life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My life has definitely been a struggle. I AM a ME TOO survivor as a young child and also while serving in the Military.

My advice for other women is to NOT be silenced; I would tell them that your voice is your strength and you have the right to tell your truth.

Life is not easy, and we MUST continue our journey to uplift and encourage everyone.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Tonya Oxendine (Quality of Life) – what should we know?
As a retired senior leader with nearly 30 years of Military experience teaching America’s sons and daughters. I have spent a lifetime developing individuals from diverse backgrounds how to balance their Quality of Life (QOL by giving them the tools, skills and resources to overcome life’s challenges, creating a positive lifestyle full of much better relationships to include their personal relationships, work relationships and financial relationships and to experience a greater love of health and wellness embracing their physical health, mental resilience and spiritual health.

I’m looking for individuals who are ready to get out of their own way, realizing their purpose and meaning for your life and achieve the QOL they deserve.

Who do you know that would like to have a break thru?

Which women have inspired you in your life?
No one in particular. There are many brave women in the past and currently trying to be heard and make a difference at several levels.
