Life and Work with Nicole Jones

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Jones.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Nicole. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
Have you ever felt like you could be doing more? Life feels stagnant? That if you pushed yourself a bit more, you’d actually achieve your goals? Well, that is where I was when I created Mediocre to Masterful. I was at a crossroads where I knew I could be a better version of myself. I had a list of goals and the will to be great. One year while developing my goals list, I titled the list Mediocre to Masterful, and something about that name just clicked. Was I the only one who felt this way? Talking with those closest to me and striking up a conversation with strangers, I quickly realized others also felt mediocre and wanted to rise to their greatest potential. I knew I needed to take my idea to level where I could inspire the masses. After much brainstorming and research, I decided a podcast was the best platform. It has been a rewarding experience ever since! Honestly, starting the podcast, I didn’t know what audience I would speak to the most. All I knew is I had to empower people who felt complacent. I allowed that process to develop organically and now know faith-driven women who are at a transitional stage of their life follow me the most. Those excitedly entering entrepreneurship or career changes, yet still, harbor bits of doubt. And women who have reached enlightenment about what truly makes them happy and need encouragement to pursue “that thing” because it may appear unusual to others. The messages in Mediocre to Masterful supports growth that starts within for the betterment of a masterful life.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing worth having is a smooth road. It’s within the journey of pursuing your passion that life’s adversities appear. What is amazing about the journey towards success is that those bumps in the road are only molding you to be a better version of you. For me, in the development of Mediocre to Masterful, I ran into one of the most challenging times of my life. I was truly tested and had to live through the very thing that I was developing a platform for, being masterful! And that meant being masterful even in the hardest of times. I encourage all women to continue to follow their dreams despite challenges. Diamonds are made under pressure. I also encourage all women to also ask for help. The weight of the world does not need to be on your shoulders. Depending on your journey reach out to friends, subject matter experts, or even a counselor for help.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Mediocre to Masterful – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Here’s the unique part of what I do, I am a certified project manager. My everyday job for over five years has been creating project plans and managing budgets for multimillion dollar companies. My mission was to bring that planning aspect into Mediocre to Masterful when it comes to goal development and execution. That goals list that I created years ago was my ah-ha! moment of integrating proven practices with everyday life. A lot of the project management methodologies easily translate to life goals. What is even more interesting is before I stepped into project management, I was already programmed to work in that manner. I literally plan out everything with a timeline, milestones, you name it! Mediocre to Masterful is just an extension of myself. It has been one of THE most rewarding experiences. I look forward to impacting many more people and offering helpful solutions.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
As long as I can remember I have always been a goal-oriented person. If you ask those that know me, that would say I have always been a cheerleader. No, not a pom-pom, stunt-landing cheerleader. Rather someone who always encourages others to follow their dreams and goals. If you tell me you have a passionate idea, I will encourage it and help you brainstorm ways you can achieve it. What also further encouraged my passion for greatness is the desire to break generational curses. Financial lack, single-family households, and lack of family communication plagued my family and does so for many families in the black community. I had a great childhood, yet my siblings and I did experience hardship. We lived with the lights cut-off at times, getting food care packages from churches, no heat in our home during the dead of winter. As a child, you just live through those moments and make the best of it. However, I knew growing up I didn’t want to live under those conditions forever. I am grateful for those experiences because they were learning lessons. Those times propelled me to be compassionate and strive for greatness.
