Meet Rachel Neal of Rabran Enterprises

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Neal.

Thanks for sharing your story with us, Rachel. So, let’s start at the beginning, and we can move on from there.
It all started as a result of being born into an extremely abusive and dysfunctional household. I was the eighth child of a loveless married couple. By the time I entered the world, my father had already left my mother emotionally, and my mother suffered from severe depression. This shaped who I was as a person and left me favoring men who were like my father (in relationships and in business).

When I was in my twenties, I became a flight attendant at a small start-up airline named ValuJet. I believed in the all-powerful company president (whose demeanor was just like my father’s) when he touted that the airline was safe and on the cutting edge of airline travel. I trusted him even though I regularly worked on old planes that constantly malfunctioned, which resulted in a slew of emergency landings.

One day, a few seconds prior to takeoff, the shrapnel from the right engine penetrated the fuselage and the main fuel line. A cabin fire immediately erupted. I was engulfed in flames and suffered third-degree burns. After several years of recovery, I obtained a master’s degree in counseling. My interest in counseling stemmed from my personal desire to try to figure out why I continued to make bad decisions. I then developed my relationship Q&A blog on Heyrachel.org to help other women stop making similar bad decisions. For years, I received the same relationship questions over and over again, which made me decide to write my book, “Hey Rachel!” It is a no holds barred relationship Q&A book that consists of a culmination of all the most popular relationship questions I received. After several publishers told me that I had a great “voice”, I decided to write a script, which received coverage by Paramount studios. The studio suggested that I make major changes, and being the temperamental artist that I am, I decided to develop my script into a short film to give the studio a visual of my concept. My short film titled “Raggity Anns” (Raggityanns.com) is a film about three Atlanta women who tragically emulate the failed relationships of their parents.

Has it been a smooth road?
Writing my book, “Hey Rachel! Real Talk. Real Relationships. Real Advice.”, was not a smooth road but a road that came naturally to me. I was the guinea pig for the book. Experiencing dysfunctional relationships from a very young age and then overcoming the chaos allowed me to empathize with women’s relationship struggles and teach them to TAKE THEIR RELATIONSHIP LIVES BACK! Writing the book was an emotional roller coaster ride. I had to ask myself tough questions and accept that all my angst came from never really understanding the definition of true love.

Making the film, “Raggity Anns”, came naturally to my partner Kirk Davis and I, but we still had many issues such as a lack of knowledge due to being first time filmmakers, operating with minimal funding for lighting, sound, rehearsals, etc. We overcame these issues by maintaining professionalism and passion for the project, conducting research, staying open to criticism, and persevering at all costs! I was blessed with a great partner and although we dealt with a lot of issues, we received awesome support from family and friends, launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, and was able to work with great actors and actresses such as Crystal Michelle Seldon, the star of the film.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Rabran Enterprises – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Rabran Enterprises, LLC combines the letters of my name and my son’s name, Brandon. It will forever stand as a symbol of my efforts to reach for the stars despite the struggle of being a single mother on a fixed income. My multifaceted entertainment company consists of three divisions: film production, books, and relationship blogging. I am proud of helping so many women via my relationship advice blog on Heyrachel.org. I was even invited to a wedding that occurred as a result of my advice. Many women have thanked me for the honesty and straightforward advice detailed in my book “Hey Rachel!”

I am proudest of receiving ten film festival selections, one honorable mention for Best Women Short, and a nomination for Best Short Film for my short film “Raggity Anns.” We will be attending our first film premiere at the Soul West Fest in Phoenix, Arizona in December, and our next viewing will be held at the Independent Shorts Awards film festival in Los Angeles in February 2019.

My company is set apart because it is built upon empowering women to TAKE THEIR RELATIONSHIP LIVES BACK and to reach for the stars, despite their circumstances. I hope sharing my struggles will motivate women to take their first steps in building and maintaining their best life!

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love all the quaint and distinct neighborhoods around Atlanta, such as Virginia Highlands, Inman Park, Buckhead, Atlantic Station, etc. Atlanta is a place where you can hang out in the big city and then jump in your car and travel a few miles to a relaxed rural area.

The population is eclectic, and the restaurant scene ranges from upscale to casual to exotic. I’ve lived in many cities, but Atlanta feels like, tastes like, and will always remain my home! What do I like least about our city? Absolutely nothing!
