Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Inge.
Brittany, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been singing and performing since the age of 2. I spent most of my childhood in Laurel, MD before attending Spelman College in Atlanta, GA; where I got my bachelor’s degree in music. After college, I decided to stay in Atlanta to pursue a career as a recording artist. At the same time, I was working a miserable corporate job that I was eventually laid off from.
After being laid off, I started taking PA gigs for different theater and film/TV projects around the city— which sparked my interest in the craft of acting. I started taking acting classes while simultaneously performing with local community theaters. The experiences gained from those environments led me to Atlanta’s professional theater houses and helped me eventually sign with my film/TV agent (Aligned Stars Agency) in 2015.
Has it been a smooth road?
It has been nothing close to a smooth road. My first year with my agent, I booked absolutely nothing. I got plenty of auditions and callbacks but never booked. That was discouraging, and I was fearful that my agency would drop me.
My second year with Aligned Stars, I booked one non-union commercial. I booked it early in the year, so I had a lot of hope for how the rest of my year and bookings would go… and still, nothing. My third year with ASA— work and bookings began to pick up in a major way. I was working abundantly in TV and theater, and I felt myself getting burned out.
So, I then had to reevaluate and learn balance. The journey and learning continues! I am so excited to be a part of the “Boomerang” cast. I had some slow months earlier this year, and I wasn’t sure when work would pick back up; little did I know that those slower months were giving me time to breathe and preparing me for the season I’m in now.
This is why, no matter how challenging the path or journey seems, I have learned to trust God’s timing for my life.
We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I’m playing the role of Crystal Garrett. Crystal is a Type-A, Southern Belle and the childhood best friend of Simone Graham, played by Tetona Jackson. Crystal is a rule follower at work but marches to the beat of her own drum in life. She is recently divorced and working through her new life as a single woman. “Boomerang” centers around six friends (millennials), navigating their life experiences while maintaining love and support for each other.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
Food is probably what I love most about Atlanta, Hahahahaha! I’m a vegetarian/vegan foodie, and Atlanta has so many great options!
Traffic is what I like least about Atlanta. And it is forever evolving… yikes!
