Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Rocco.
Kristen, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It all started with one glance of my wedding photo on just another day after work while I was watching TV. It was a quick glance, but for some reason, it caused me to stop and think. I was reminded of so many great memories that my husband and I had shared together over our three years together and I started to wonder if I’d always remember them.
I thought about the chance encounter of how we met, the time we moved from Atlanta to New York City with a dream and a lot of hope, how he proposed and why he planned the proposal the way he did, our “firsts” and how I knew he was the one for me.
I wondered if there was a way to capture these memories, these memories that collectively equaled my love story. With that thought, I had an epiphany. I was a writer, a storyteller, an interviewer. I had all the skills to write my own love story, and I had the skills to help other engaged couples document their love stories too.
I couldn’t shake my idea and after a while of plotting how this idea could become a business, on August 10, 2015, it did!
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, definitely not a smooth road! As a first-time entrepreneur, there was and still is a lot to learn about building and growing a business. I founded a business in a completely untapped niche and that created a big challenge from the get-go. I had to not only build brand awareness for Love Notery but intrigue for a new niche in the wedding industry of love storytelling and writing. That was no easy task, but through media interviews and marketing I educated engaged couples on the value of documenting their personal love story and little by little, my first clients trickled in. Since then, I’ve been able to expand my services to help engaged couples write their own personal wedding vows and learn how to create a solid foundation for marriage as newlyweds.
My favorite quote has always been “life is a journey, not a destination” and I very much feel that way about my business. There’s always something I could be doing better, but Love Notery will be around for decades and it’ll continue to get better every step of the way. What’s important is to enjoy the here and now and I do that by writing truly extraordinary love stories that my clients will love and being the best vows writing and marriage mindset coach I possibly can be!
Love Notery – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Love Notery is a company that is deeply committed to helping engaged couples focus on what their wedding day is all about — their one-of-a-kind love story! Wedding planning can be extremely stressful and impersonal believe it or not. It’s a process that’s supposed to be all about the engaged couple, but it can and does take on a life of its own with hundreds of decisions that need to be made, other people wanting to have their own input into what the wedding should be like and let downs as a result of unmet expectations all along the way. Through all of this, the heart of a wedding — the couple’s love story — so easily gets lost. Believe me, as I former bride, I can relate to all of this!
To counteract these unfortunate realities of wedding planning, I specialize in focusing on the couple rather than the wedding and write love stories that document all the sweet details of the couple’s extraordinary relationship, provide help crafting personal wedding vows through my “How to Write Personal Wedding Vows that Wow” digital guide and workbook and teach how to create a solid foundation for marriage as newlyweds through my “Marriage Mindset Masterclass.”
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
My proudest moment isn’t a moment per se. It’s looking back over the last four years and realizing that Love Notery has impacted hundreds of couples from all around the world. It’s extremely rewarding to know that couples from all corners of the globe want to ensure their love story never goes untold.
