Today we’d like to introduce you to Aliyah Davis.
Aliyah, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
After a classmate was fatally shot and killed at my high school in Jacksonville, FL, I watched the power of journalism unfold. Shortly after a reporter interviewed me, the segment aired on live television. As citizens and neighbors applauded me for my interview, I discovered my innate passion for disseminating information to inform citizens.
The summer shortly after I graduated I went away to attend Florida A&M University to major in Broadcast Journalism. Little did I know just how much this historically black university would forever change my life. Through my time of interning at different news companies around the U.S, I saw the need to create a media platform that was more diverse and more relatable to the black community. After praying to God about my concerns within the media industry, he gave me a vision. THE ALIYAH DAVIS NETWORK.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
The Aliyah Davis Network is a media network catering to giving individuals from all different walks of life a positive platform. Most of the time, individuals can’t obtain things because they don’t see it in their own environment. I created this network to empower and help support dreams. If you’re an artist, a sports fanatic, a teenage parent, a beauty influencer or even broken person… there is a place for you to feel great about yourself and show the world your talents. I strongly believe what you put out into the world will always come back for you. My passion to help individuals find their passions and LIVE in it happily. I hope people all over the world see my network and believe in their own dreams.
What responsibility, if any, do you think artists have to use their art to help alleviate problems faced by others? Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
With all the things happening in the world and the way people interpret the message from different media outlets, is disheartening. I want citizens to watch the news and feel informed and not drained. I think artists are important now more than ever because they are needed to create specific platforms.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
