Hi Cuban, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved getting my nails done or painting them myself as a kid. All the glitter, bling, and sparkly things have been my obsession for as long as I can remember. Every time I went to traditional walk-in nail salons, I left feeling disappointed, like my vision was never fully brought to life. That’s what got me into nails to begin with. I wanted to create the kind of defined and detailed designs I’d always dreamed of.
I decided to take nails seriously in 2021 so I enrolled in nail school and earned my license. By July 2022, I took a leap of faith and opened my own salon suite with zero clients. I was determined to turn my passion into a thriving business, so I poured my energy into creating content and marketing myself on social media. Through consistent posting, engaging with my followers, and showcasing my work, I grew my Instagram following to over 25K, which has been the driving force behind nearly 100% of my clientele.
It wasn’t by any means easy. There were moments of doubt, learning curves, and sacrifices but I stayed committed to the vision God gave me. Over time, I began expanding my services by including BIAB/Structured manicures, adding even more intricate nail designs to my skill set, higher quality blinged out nails, and now, I’m preparing to launch Gel-X services. I also became a brand ambassador for Blue Streak Crystals and 2 Cute Nails, which allowed me to collaborate with brands I love and align with my creative vision.
Today, I’m proud of how far I’ve come, but I’m still reaching for bigger goals like scaling my business to be fully booked a month in advance, expanding my offerings, and teaching more nail classes. My journey is still being written, and I’m excited for what’s next!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My nail journey began in 2020 during one of the most challenging periods of my life. Halfway through my junior year of college, I made the difficult decision to leave school. Then the pandemic hit, I was furloughed from my job, and simultaneously, I had experienced the heartbreaking loss of my favorite cousin, Deonte. It was an incredibly dark and depressing time for me. I felt lost, uncertain, and disconnected from the path I thought I was on to becoming an optometrist.
In the midst of that darkness, I found solace in something unexpected: nails. I started by practicing on a mannequin hand just to pass the time and cope with my new reality. At first, it was simply a distraction, but soon, it became so much more. I fell in love with the artistry, the precision, and the creativity it allowed me to express. I eventually started doing my own nails, then my sister, mom, and best friend. What began as a way to heal slowly turned into a passion that reignited my sense of purpose.

I’m a nail technician, artist, & owner of Clawd by Cuban Salon, where I specialize in luxury nail enhancements with a focus on flawless designs, blinged out sets, high quality artistry, and the best nail retention (up to 10 weeks!). My clients come to me for the level of detail and personalization I put into each set. I’m known for my clean application, near perfect designs, and that extra touch of sparkle that makes every client feel special.
What I’m most proud of is the community I’ve built through my work. Starting from zero clients to being almost fully booked is a testament to the trust my clients have in me and the quality of service I provide. I strive to create a welcoming, fun, and memorable experience every time someone sits in my chair.
What sets me apart is not just the quality of my work, but the experience I offer. I’m detail-oriented, punctual, and genuinely invested in each client’s vision. My clients love that I’m not just creating a set of nails but also bringing their ideas to life with care and precision, all while building a connection that goes beyond just the appointment.
