Today we’d like to introduce you to Jerrica Russaw.
Hi Jerrica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Absolutely!
My journey started with a love for creativity and a deep desire to empower others. I earned my Bachelor’s in Psychology from Tuskegee University and later received a Master’s in Media Design from Full Sail University. That combination—understanding people and knowing how to tell powerful visual stories—laid the foundation for everything I do.
I started by freelancing—designing flyers, logos, and helping small businesses bring their visions to life. Over time, I saw a pattern: so many people had incredible ideas but lacked the support to execute them strategically and creatively. That inspired me to launch Jerrica Designed It, and eventually, Urban Visionaries—a company dedicated to equipping entrepreneurs with the tools and guidance to thrive in today’s market.
Along the way, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of clients and organizations, including Tuskegee University, Auburn University, Grambling State University, the U.S. Poultry and Egg Association, West Angeles Church of God in Christ, Spirit and Truth Church, and many other churches, artists, and small businesses across the country. These experiences have strengthened my ability to build strategic, culturally relevant, and visually compelling brands that resonate with diverse audiences.
That same commitment to creativity and community is what led me to launch The Creatives Table—a space designed for creatives, entrepreneurs, and visionaries to connect, grow, and be poured into. It’s part content platform, part safe space, where we talk strategy, purpose, mental health, and everything in between. It’s a reflection of the heart behind all my work: helping people show up fully, build boldly, and create from a place of authenticity.
Today, as a Ph.D. student in Business Administration with a concentration in Organizational Leadership, I’m constantly evolving—and helping others do the same. My mission is to merge creativity, strategy, and soul to help others build brands and lives rooted in purpose and impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all—it’s definitely been a journey filled with highs, lows, and a lot of growth in between.
There were seasons where I doubted my skills, questioned my path, and wrestled with imposter syndrome—especially when stepping into rooms with more established professionals or pitching ideas that didn’t quite fit the mold. Balancing creativity with the realities of running a business was also tough. I had to learn how to set boundaries, manage my time, and charge what I was worth—all while still trying to serve with excellence.
There were also financial challenges in the early days. I’ve invested in equipment, software, and education without always seeing an immediate return, and there were times when client work dried up and I had to pivot quickly. On top of that, juggling school, business, and life hasn’t always been easy, especially pursuing my Ph.D. while managing multiple projects and clients.
But through all of it, I’ve stayed rooted in my purpose. Every setback sharpened my focus and reminded me why I started in the first place. I’ve learned to lean into faith, surround myself with community, and keep showing up—even when it’s uncomfortable. And honestly, those struggles have shaped the depth and direction of my work today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a creative strategist, designer, and multimedia producer who helps individuals, organizations, and businesses bring their visions to life through intentional branding, storytelling, and strategy. My work spans graphic design, videography, content creation, and brand development—but at the heart of it all is helping people communicate who they are and what they stand for in a way that truly resonates.
Through Jerrica Designed It and Urban Visionaries, I specialize in working with small business owners, faith-based organizations, and purpose-driven creatives to build authentic, visually compelling brands that have both style and strategy. I’m known for taking a hands-on, personal approach—whether I’m developing a full brand identity, designing marketing materials, producing video content, or coaching entrepreneurs through launch and growth phases.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with a wide range of people—small business owners, corporations, artists, pastors, musicians, and more. No matter the industry, my goal is always the same: to help clients show up with clarity, confidence, and creativity.
What I’m most proud of is that my work doesn’t just “look good”—it drives real impact. I’ve helped people go from concept to launch, from being overlooked to being booked, and from burnout to clarity. With my latest venture, The Creatives Table, I’ve created a space where creatives and entrepreneurs can be seen, supported, and equipped—both personally and professionally.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine creativity, strategy, and emotional intelligence. With a background in psychology and current Ph.D. studies in Organizational Leadership, I don’t just design—I help people align their brand with their purpose and build systems that support sustainable growth. I bring both heart and structure to every project, and I’m intentional about serving people, not just delivering products.
At the end of the day, I’m in the business of transformation—and I’m honored to help others build lives and brands rooted in purpose and impact.
Any big plans?
Right now, I’m in a season of expansion—both personally and professionally. I’m continuing my Ph.D. journey in Organizational Leadership, which is helping me think more deeply about how to build sustainable systems for creative businesses and support the people behind them in a way that’s intentional and human-centered.
One of the things I’m most excited about is growing The Creatives Table. It began as a vision to create a safe space for creatives and entrepreneurs to be seen, heard, and supported—and now it’s evolving into a full ecosystem of content, conversations, and experiences. My goal isn’t just to help people grow businesses, but to help them lean into what makes them special, find their voice, and confidently walk in their creative stride.
I’m also planning to expand my multimedia services under my personal brand—launching original content, branded visuals, and possibly even docu-style projects that highlight the real, raw stories behind creative journeys.
Long term, I’m working toward creating a physical creative hub—a space where visionaries can gather, collaborate, and be poured into. Whether it’s through strategy, storytelling, or soul work, I’m committed to helping people build lives and brands that feel aligned, intentional, and true to who they are.
Big changes are coming, and I’m genuinely excited for what’s next.
