Check Out Nicole Little’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Little.

Hi Nicole, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have always loved photography. Growing up my dad would take our family photos, he photographed some for work but it was also a passion of his and I think that rubbed off on me.

In high school, I did a project on Ansel Adams and was inspired by the way he used photography not just as art, but as a tool for conservation. His ability to tell powerful stories through landscapes left a lasting impression on me.

I got my first DSLR in college, but it wasn’t until 2018 that I spent more time on my art. After the loss of my mom, I was searching for something to help me process my grief. That’s when I began taking classes and learning what really goes on behind the lens.

I started small, photographing friends and their young families. That’s when I discovered my love for portrait photography, especially working with children. It became a fun challenge to capture their attention and draw out their fun personalities.

To this day, I still work with some of the same families I started with, children I’ve photographed since birth. Watching them grow and continuing to be a part of their lives through photography brings me a joy I can’t quite put into words.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not exactly, there have been plenty of tears along the way, good and bad!

Imposter syndrome? Of course. Stressing over whether my mini sessions would book? Constantly. Making sure my CODB (cost of doing business) was accurate? A whole journey. And don’t even get me started on trying to post consistently on social media. That one’s still a major work in progress!

When you’re a creative juggling both the artistic side and the business side, it’s tough to keep everything running smoothly. I understand the business side, but the reason I started this in the first place was for the creative outlet. Finding the balance between the two has definitely been a challenge.

That said, this past year, I’ve finally started finding my rhythm, doing what I can, when I can, and giving myself some grace in the process. I’m lucky to have an amazing group of clients who stay in touch and come back when they’re ready. Knowing they’ll find me when they need me has brought a sense of peace, and for now, that feels just right.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a portrait photographer with a heart for capturing real, honest moments. While my work is rooted in a solid understanding of photography, what I truly specialize in is connection. I strive to create a relaxed, welcoming environment where personalities can shine, particularly with ones who don’t always love being in front of a camera. I see it as both a challenge and a privilege to help them feel seen and celebrated.

I’m most proud of the long-term relationships I’ve built with my clients. Watching families grow and being trusted to document their milestones year after year is something I never take for granted. It’s more than just taking a good photo; it’s about preserving a feeling, a moment, a memory.

What sets me apart is my ability to bring both heart and patience into every session. I’ve been on a journey with photography. It helped me heal during a difficult time, and I carry that sense of purpose into every shoot. I know that for many families, these photos are more than keepsakes. They’re pieces of their story, and I feel incredibly honored to be part of that.

What does success mean to you?
Success, for me, is when a client reaches out after seeing their gallery about how excited they were to see every image. I love when a clients share a photo of their new gallery wall at home or when I see a profile picture change or one of my images as a phone background, proudly displaying images I had the privilege of capturing. Knowing that the client likes my work enough to be a part of their everyday life, part of their home, and their memories, is what success looks like to me.
