Community Highlights: Meet Lynell Williams of Get Mindful With Me Consulting & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynell Williams.

Hi Lynell, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
So, for as long as I can remember I have loved helping people and I have been interested in how people think and navigate their worlds. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with that until a friend in high school mentioned that I would be good at Psychology. I had never thought about Psychology until that moment but it just made perfect sense. After taking some college courses, I knew that I wanted to become a therapist but had no idea how to get there. What amazes me to this day is that the path ultimately revealed itself to me. I am now a Mental Health Therapist in the Atlanta area and I provide therapy to people who are motivated to learn themselves and become who they know they can be. Some of my specialties are working with attachment, perfectionism, self-confidence, and women with ADHD. I have had opportunities to work in college counseling centers, private practice, facilitated workshops and training and I have truly enjoyed every single aspect of my career. I am now taking it one step further, and I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision so I can help other counselors discover their own journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I mentioned, the path was truly revealed to me, which shows me that this is where I am meant to be. But yes, there have definitely been challenges. There is a lot of inner work and self-trust that has to be done along this journey of finding just where you are supposed to be and where you can thrive the best. There have been times when I have doubted myself and questioned if I am doing things “right.” I am always having to remind myself that there is no “right,” there is only the next right step. I know many of us have developed this constant questioning of “am I doing enough?” I have untied the connection of my worth to my productivity. I have had to drop the perfectionist thinking and pick up self-compassion, which has helped me focus on all the opportunities that have been available to me and are yet to come.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Get Mindful With Me Consulting & Wellness?
I am a Mental Health Therapist and the founder of Get Mindful With Me Consulting & Wellness. I started it with the goal of encouraging others to be their complete self, become who they were truly meant to be, and let go of the expectations of others. I work with individuals and businesses who know that they were created for more but need some direction to get there. I empower people to embrace what makes them unique and drop the negative beliefs that may have been placed on them or they have held on to. Some of my specialties are working with attachment, perfectionism, self-confidence, and women with ADHD. ADHD in women is an area I do a lot of research in and I am exploring ways to take all that I am learning and create something that will actually be effective and practical. I am most proud of the intentionality and authenticity behind my brand. I named my website/blog GetMindfulWithMe because I am on my own journey. I am a recovering perfectionist. I have to constantly and intentionally choose to live authentically in every space. That takes being mindful of the ways that I am not being authentic or true to myself and intentionally taking steps to work toward the person I am meant to be. I offer online individual and group counseling sessions. I also provide corporate training with a mission to bring mental health topics to organizations. I believe that the mind controls much more than we realize and if we nurture that part of us so many more doors will open.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Thankfully, I have slowly started getting into books for leisure again. My interests change pretty frequently so it is hard to name just one book or podcast so I will share the ones that have been helpful to me over the last couple of months. The books that I have recently read are The Four Agreements by Don Ruiz, You are a Badass by Jen Sincero, and Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson. I am currently revamping and remapping my mindset and these books have definitely jumpstarted that journey. I will also add the “Structured’ app that has been helping me keep my life together, which has been a necessity at this point in my life. The Structured app helps me plan my day the night before and realistically think about how long doing a task will take me. Makes me feel a little bit more organized and gathered, even when everything is going wild haha.
