Today we’d like to introduce you to Eazy 803.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m originally from the suburbs of Columbia, SC but at an early age, I moved to Manchester, England for a couple of years. As a result, everything I do has a heavy European influence. I started making music when my local public library got a recording studio when I was 11 or 12. I would also freestyle with my friends in the car for fun after school.
Around this time I was also heavily into making my own alternative DJ mixes. Additionally, I’ve always had a deep love for fashion. As I matured into my teenage year fashion would play a large role in my life. From working with Vulkan Magazine to Atlantic Records to my favorite recording artists, fashion has opened doors for me that music never could. Meshing these two mediums together and drawing inspiration from both has brought me to where I am now. With the release of my first mixtape, I want people to see me as someone they can look to for both their favorite songs and the newest fashion trends. I am a creative that possesses depth, and over time I will be considered one of the greatest to do it.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been an easy path. A lot of people think that when you come from the suburbs that you have it easy, but all that glitters isn’t gold. Up until recently, I did not have my family’s support, and as a creative that makes everything 100x harder. Not only did I deal with my own doubt in myself, but also the doubts of the people closest to me. At times this was a crushing feeling, and at other times I used it as motivation. I feel like a lot of artists will tell you about the lows and highs of creating. I compare my journey as an artist to starting from scratch. Although I grew up in a wealthy household, I was never given resources to push my creativity. As a result, I had to find innovative ways to achieve my goals. Whether it was learning to record myself on Garageband or shopping at goodwill to find clothes to upcycle or sell, I’ve always had to make a little go a long way. However, these struggles have fortified my mental and given me the work ethic needed to take my talents to the next level.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a recording artist and Founder/Creative Director of my clothing line Colors by Eazy. I specialize in creating unique vibes that resonate with a wide variety of individuals. Whether it’s music or clothes, I create in a way that makes it possible for me to connect with different people from different walks of life. I’m most proud of my ability to bring others together with my words and energy. There is simply no one like me. No comparison could ever do this justice. I’m a black kid from South Carolina that grew up traveling between Manchester, England, Macon, Georgia, Kigali, Rwanda, and various other places. My exposure to a vast array of cultures groomed me to be simply one of one from an early age.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advice would be to follow what feels right. As creatives, we have a heightened intuition and connection to the world around us. As a result, you normally know what you should or should not do just by feeling. It’s more so about blocking out the outside noise than anything. Find peace mentally, and you will be able to clearly see your path forward.
