Today we’d like to introduce you to Jada Thomas.
Hi Jada, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I found myself being drawn to celebrity interview podcasts. There are so many talents of the sort; however, the stand-outs that influenced me the most are NoJumper, The Breakfast Club, and DJ Small Eyez. While I love “celebrities” and enjoy reveling in their successes, I realized the void in promoting local talents. Just in my concentrated area of Kennesaw State University, there are so many young upcomers who are dedicated to their craft but their exposure is limited. I wanted to develop a platform that would highlight their presence and support their dream. Little did I know that my cheer experience starting from 3rd grade to college at Georgia State was actually setting the stage for “my” dream. Cheering strengthens my outgoing personality and gave me the confidence to network and built long-lasting relationships. Stepping outside my comfort zone was more of the next step for me vs a challenge. The challenge was learning the craft and perfecting my content creation. This journey has been very inspiring and has connected me with many creative talents. I am most appreciative of the artists who have gifted me their time. I’m a one-woman shop who is self-taught: I work the camera, I do the research, I edit the videos, I book the talent and I develop the social media marketing. 2020 was my inaugural year of learning….. 2021 is the year I dominate and expand my geographical area.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
No, definitely not! But anything worth achieving requires effort!!! Outside of learning the “technical” side of the business, a challenge for me was overcoming some personal hurdles…. the biggest being my constant need of seeking approval from others. The nay-sayers never have your back so it was vital for me to learn to rely on my judgment and to stay true to myself. It’s not always easy working with individuals you don’t know. I’m typically meeting the artist on the day of the interview and the biggest challenge is syncing our energies in efforts of getting the best out of the interview. Securing the interview can also be difficult. I promote myself by interviewing others; which leads artists to contact me but there are times when I seek people specifically and I get no response. Rejection initially dampened my confidence but I recalled a “Professor” telling me that rejection is going to happen and that I should not let that stop me from achieving my goals.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The Chatterbox By Jada interviews not only musicians but all creatives. I think that this is what sets me apart from other interviewers because I have a larger market. I’m known for doing collaborations with rappers, singers, dancers, and business owners! Creatives who are dedicated and consistent with their craft are the type of individuals seen on my podcast. Specializing in content creation and making my videos visually attractive has also contributed to my uniqueness. Personally, I am most proud of my consistency. A lot of hard work and dedication was put in to get where I’m at today. It makes me appreciate my success more because none of my growth happened overnight. I had to get comfortable with the uncomfortable to keep going.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The creativity is what I enjoy most about the Atlanta area. I believe that Atlanta is the hottest city for creatives right now because of the endless talent. I also believe that some of the best music and content creation comes out of Atlanta. Living here is so inspiring because it has motivated me to start something I love to do. Watching so many creatives chase their dreams and succeed showed me that I can do it too.
