Daily Inspiration: Meet Demetrius and Sheneika Hardy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetrius and Sheneika Hardy.

Hi Demetrius and Sheneika, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
We are the sweet bloom of an HBCU love story following our dreams toward creating a legacy for our family. One that would provide stability and generational wealth for our children Bria, Braylon, and Bryson, and generations to come. We moved to the Atlanta area about ten years ago in search of better opportunities for our family. We didn’t have much but we had each other and the determination to create something big. Something that we could enjoy, be meaningful, and generate passive income for us. Last year during Covid and the quarantine, there was a period of uncertainty where we weren’t sure if the corporations that we worked for would continue business or downsize its employees. What would we do if our only source of income decided to close its doors? We knew it was the perfect time to start researching and figure out how we could provide for our family. During this time, we had the chance to slow down and really reflect on our goals, dream bigger, and created a plan to start generating additional income. Event space ownership was on the top of our list. It was something that we’ve dreamed together about and knew it was something we wanted to explore. Things started to happen very quickly after We invested in a course for Event space ownership. We had our space up and running with in 3 months of investing in the course and opened our doors during the first quarter of 2021.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The most challenging part about this process was getting started and blocking the mental barriers that told us it couldn’t be done during the global pandemic and made us afraid jump out there. Taking the risk and deciding to accept all of the challenges that came our way was tough. Once we developed the mindset that It’s gotta work or it’s gotta work, we were unstoppable! We began to follow the blueprint provided to us in the course, wrote out our goals step by step and held ourselves accountable throughout the process. Success starts first with in YOU! Once you’ve made up your mind that this is the goal and you follow it with dedication and hard work, there is nothing that you can’t do!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
We grew up in different parts of the world but with very similar values. Demetrius, a Midwest city boy, grew up in Cincinnati as an only child and raised by his mother. He was able to witness firsthand what hard work and sacrifice was from watching his mother work long hours daily to provide for their home. Sheneika, a country girl, raised in a similar situation by her grandmother in the small town of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. We were both taught very early that we had to work hard to get the things we desired and were required to value education and have something of our own. We met each other at Kentucky State University during our undergraduate studies and were married in July 2010. It was during the wedding planning process that we knew we wanted to own our own event space. We visited so many different venues throughout Cincinnati and Kentucky while scouting the perfect venue for our wedding day. Each one offering very different styles, price points, and décor but they all specialize in creating memorable occasions. We wanted to be a part of that as well but with less hassle, provide a well-maintained multi-functional space, and offer budget-friendly packages.
