Daily Inspiration: Meet Hasani Vibez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hasani Vibez.

Hi Hasani, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a lover of music, a creator of art, and a people enthusiast. My passion to be one of the greatest music artists and creators to come on the scene since I was 17 is what causes me to work and grind hard today. My name is Hasani Comer, known as HASANI VIBEZ. I am also a full-time, Communications major and Theater and Performance minor student at the illustrious Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia. As an independent American R&B / Soul / Hip Hop artist, I hope to bring a more enlightened and positive change into this world through my music and songs, I am a singer, songwriter, producer, actor/performer, spoken word/poet, and visual artist. As a child, I would listen to music mostly in the R&B or Christian genre with my parents, and it is these influential sounds that you may hear in my songs. My first release as an independent artist on SoundCloud and Spotify was, “A Message for a Queen” which debuted in October 2018 and received rave reviews and thousands of streams from across the globe. This was inspiring to me and, since high school, I have continued to pursue my passion and love for performing as Hasani Vibez. Another big influencer that I was brought up listening to as well was the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, and the songs from the days of The Jackson Five. Listening to Teddy Pendergrass and the phenomenal James Brown has plenty of great music to groove to.

Becoming a singer, songwriter, and music producer happened solely by accident when I was in high school. I have played football and other sports since I was five years of age. Growing up as a student-athlete for years, I had always placed my passion and energy into being the best defensive player in football and soccer. Unfortunately, in my high school senior year, I severely tore my ACL/LCL playing football and used the recuperation, and downtime to tap into my creative artist side and Hasani Vibez was born. As I see it, I have always been an artist, and playing sports was my sidekick. Therefore, I can be seen as a superhero with 2 sides to me, a passionate artist and an athlete who believes in being a positive role model as both. Around six years of age, I started creating my own comic books with my own superheroes where I would draw my superhero action figures, write out each scripted frame, and add my pages to make my book read about how always saving the world. It took a year for me to fully recover from the ACL/LCL surgery, however, it was during my recovery that my first song, “A Message for a Queen” was created and debuted, and I have been able to create more content since that time and co-write songs with other artists, such as “For You” with Jordan JK Seamon. My single called “Thankful” from my Mr. Thanksgiving EP, has become a hit among many and received thousands of streams from Switzerland, New Zealand, and the United States, alike. I am humbled and blessed to continually receive invites for live performances as well as to see how many people are using my music in positive messages across the board.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a smooth road. Being a music artist, either independently or through a record label, involves an extreme commitment level to create, perform and release music often. I understand that, at 21 years of age, it will not always be a smooth road when a person is pursuing their passion as an artist on any platform, especially for the global impact that my art will have. However, I have to always put my trust in God and remember this is His plan and everything works in his timing. It took a football tragedy and one of the worse football injuries, a torn ACL/LCL, to happen to me during the time in which high school seniors were being scouted for D1 football scholarships, and I was at the top of my game as the All-Region, All-Metro, First Team and the top punter in DeKalb School District. Because of this experience, I was blessed to be supported in the pursuit of my music and other art. Like many, I was in the mindset that I needed to have a football scholarship to enjoy my college experience or to be able to fund my college. While deep in depression during my recuperation, God had another plan for my life. I was blessed to receive a soccer scholarship at the end of my senior year to attend Andrew College, a junior college in south Georgia, and it was there that I received excellent training for not only my soccer skills but my music, singing, and spoken word and acting as well.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a creator of anything God puts sends to my mind and allows me to see. I am a living expression of art and love here to influence nations and bridge a gap between generations. I communicate positive messages to the world through my music, poetry, and visual arts, and an entertainer. I am known as the musical artist, singer, dancer, and performer – HASANI VIBEZ. Because of my “Thankful” song and EP, “Mr. Thanksgiving”, many know me not only as Hasani Vibez but call me Mr. Thanksgiving or The Son of Soul, especially during the Thanksgiving holiday. I am unique in my own style. I write my own songs and do my spoken word, produce music, and author / illustrate a book, model, and act so much more. I want to inspire and change the world with positive messages, and I hope that I can start in Africa with my worldwide tour later in life. The whole world will sing, dance, listen too and create memories to Hasani Vibez music one day.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson that I have learned is that perspective is everything, therefore, be thankful for everything. I am grateful to be in this position to chase what God has for me and communicate to the world through my artistry and share my music. As I have learned and been told before that oftentimes it is about putting in the work, preparing is key, being smart in networking, and making good decisions to protect your future and your creative artwork. As stated before, you can control only what you can control involving yourself; therefore, I try to learn as much as I can and surround myself with the right, positive, and supportive people. I have made the decision to put in the hard and efficient work needed to pursue my craft and, with my family and village behind me, I will work through obstacles that come my way. My decision to Andrew College was a life-long, unforgettable experience wherein I gained another supportive family and group of followers, along with my supportive HBCU family at the Atlanta University Center (AUC) and those who have watched me grow up from that kid who was drawing and creating his imaginary Superhero content to pursuing this dream to become one someday to help others across the globe and be that philanthropist who can enjoy his singing career and be able to give help to a lot of people in need.
