Daily Inspiration: Meet Jasmine Alexander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Alexander

Hi Jasmine , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Well, I am an actress and filmmaker. I started my acting journey back in 2015. In Dallas, TX. Although acting has always been a dream of mine. I didn’t quite know how to start. In 2015 my husband ran into someone that was an actor and he told us a website to get on, from there my acting journey began. I started like most actors in the background or being an extra. I then worked my way into speaking roles in different short films, feature films, and student projects. All. While studying the craft in acting classes. I later moved to Atlanta, Ga where I reside currently. My family and I moved right amid the pandemic so it wasn’t a lot of production companies or casting opportunities available. It was during that time I decided to create my short film. It was just me, my camera, and my lights. Although that film was not the best it gave me the confidence I needed to create more. So that’s what I did. I create 6 other short films. Three of those later went on to be submitted to film festivals where I have won multiple awards such as “Best Actress, Best Women Filmmaker, and Best Short.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely Not a smooth road, this journey has a lot of bumps in the road and I think that’s what makes it beautiful. And it also determines your willpower and your strength to continue. So for me, I like the bumpy roads because they always keep me on my toes.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an actor and filmmaker and I think what sets me apart from others is my passion to create no matter what my circumstances are. What I am most proud of is my accomplishments so far. I feel like I have created opportunities for myself and others without allowing LIFE to hold me back. I would love for my story to inspire others to take chances on there self because you never know where it will take you.

How do you define success?
That’s a good question. I feel like success looks different for everybody. For me. Success is doing the things that I’ve always dreamed of doing whether that makes me money or not. Success for me is being able to live out my passion. And also help others do the same.
